John Feinstein didn't have us.  Seth Davis had us 22.

There is definitely something wrong happening.  Seems as if they MINN and NW are either in peoples ballots at 15&18 or not at all. That big of a swing wouldn't be possible.

I don't get the PAC 12 love. Oregon has impressive freshmen but they were an NIT team last season and lose a lot. UCLA barely made the tournament, lost a lot and have lost two of their good freshmen to injury. Washington was barely an NIT team. Oregon is a tournament team but I'm not sure the other two will be. Maybe if they feast on a weak PAC 12

I don't know when the deadline for submission is but the washington love could be because of the win they had over Nevada

Conference break-outs by these MSM geniuses.

ACC= 7
SEC=5
B12=4
B1G=3
PAC=3
WC=1
MW=1
BE=1

So the 2nd place BE Team is worse than the 7th ACC team?  I am not at all surprised by the football conference bias as it is in place every pre-season, but this is an example of the ills of group think. And, Indiana may have the biggest gripe being left out.  Notre Dame got votes?

Give me the statistical, predictive rankings every time.

Big East is a conference dominated by upperclassmen. So when players graduate, the low information pollsters automatically assume the team is rebuilding. The pollsters have not been following the recruiting/transfers as close as the fans and don't have a clue what is in the roster pipeline.  In the Big East there is all ways a next wave of quality talent coming through. Big East has to keep producing  teams having 10 or more wins in the Non Conference to get recognized. The classic example of  this voter logic this year is Xavier which got all of two points in the initial go round. Will be interesting to see how things go in the Coaches poll.

we have 6 non conf games on the schedule against teams at least receiving votes in the preseason poll - wow - one hell of a schedule - lets do IT (Kansas, KSU, Ville/Tenn, Buffalo, Wisconsin, IU)

4 of those in first 8 by Dec.1...if we go 8-0 (yes its a real possibility) we'd be ranked top 5....I know rankings are an illusion but that would be Fun!

my Priorities:
* Get in Big Dance
* Do well in Big Dance
* Win BE
* Do well in BE
* Beat UW
* Quality Wins (especially when I'm at Fiserv :) )
* Win BET
* Rankings

To clarify what I said earlier. I know people will think I’m being dumb, and I wish we were preseason  ranked. But I’m also kind of glad we are not ranked and just on the outside.

Is this team going to be good? Yes I think so. Do they deserve to be ranked top 25? Not really.

I hope the guys see this and get a wiff of top 25 and it motivates them a bit more.

I don't think it's a matter of us deserving it vs do the teams ahead deserve it more? Do you really think that 7 teams in the ACC are better than us?

I'd say it's a possibility.......but not a real possibility ......unless you consider winning the lottery as a real possibility.

The chances are very remote at best.

Honestly, I don't think the 7th best ACC team is better than the 2nd best Big East team....but I do think they are better than the 3rd best Big East team, and may be better than the best P12 team. The rankings will be more balanced at the end of the season because conferences will beat up on each other, but I do think while the Big East and PAC 12 are down, the ACC and SEC are up.

Who cares?

I'm more concerned about the end of the season.
