Marquette moves up a spot to No. 17 in poll
Fresh off its big victory Saturday over Pittsburgh, Marquette moved up one spot to No. 17 in the Associated Press media poll Monday.

I'm happy we moved up but confused. Indiana loses to an unbanked team and then beats a team ranked behind them and remains #1 a week ago. But yet we lose to a team ranked ahead of us on the road and beat a team ahead of us at home and we move up 1 spot in AP and nothing in coaches?

It was noted last week that IU was only the fifth #1 ranked team since 1990 to lose a game and remain #1 the following week.
And, this week was the second time this year we lost and moved up the following week. A few weeks ago we lost and still moved from 25 to 24.

I don't care much about the polls (interesting, but mostly useless). That being said, I'm happy to see us moving up in Ken Pomeroy's rankings (#25 today). Given that we finished the regular season #18 last year and #32 in 2011, it's promising that Ken Pom sees this year's team as comparable to our Sweet Sixteen teams.
I'd like to see the defensive numbers improve before March, but it's nice to see a top-15 adjusted offense. Especially with such a young team.

#14 in Real Time RPI.
We're sitting pretty with just over a week until March!

Kenpom means nothing to me. I'd only be impressed with their ratings if I were a Bucky fan and always got to be ranked high no matter what.
