Hey Vikings, I like what you've done with the basement.

Do you use punctuation, correct spelling and capital letters on your website?  I got a headache reading your post.
If you're trying to promote a website that I would be happy to check out, it would be worth taking a minute to check your grammar.  I too had to create a website in college... you must go to Louisville huh?   ;)

Why don't we all cut the kid some slack.  Obviously there was some mistakes in the post, but did it really affect you in some way?  It was written like a text message, big deal.

I'm sure none of us have ever had typos or poor grammar in our posts.

Good luck to you talkbigeast.  It's a good demonstration of initiative, doing what you're doing, and I wish you the best.  Don't let the critics slow you down.

I think it is pretty fair to take note of very poor grammar when someone posts to promote a site about his writing. Saying, "so what, he wrote it like a text message" is a sad, sad commentary of the times.

Or s/he is leaving a post on a forum - not writing an english paper.  who cares about his/her grammar in the posts here.  However, if the site was written like that, it would be a poor commentary of the times.  But if you take a second, and click on the link, the site appears to be well put together and not written in the same manner as his/her post here.

I'm just amazed at how quickly others are to point out other people's mistakes, that's all.

No kidding. Freakin cut the kid some slack. I wouldn't mind using a site like that as a resource. Good for him for actually doing something instead of sitting back on his cynical butt and criticizing like all the crotchety dudes on here. I swear there's more joy in an old Soviet Gulag.

Dr Wu at MU engineering back in the early eighties had a perfect response for some of you criticizing this young mans grammar.

"Come see me when you graduate for a job, I have a friend that owns a company and he needs someone like you.  He owns a calendar factory and he needs proof readers."

Trying to help and offer advice is admirable.  Belittling so you feel more superior shows how immature you are that you need to build yourself up at the expense of others.  sad..

Congratulations talkbigeast on your initiative.  Keep up the effort, you will succeed in life as others snarkle over their beers at your "foolish" efforts.

Cool site.  You guys did a terrific job with this.  I'm looking forward to checking it out a few times a week.  Hopefully you guys get some good traffic.

As it relates to the grammar, it's not about being nit picky, but I think it's important to be aware of how intelligent people can misrepresent themselves if effort isn't put forth on some grammar.   My cousin and sister are the same age (freshman in college) and do the same thing... I read their facebook posts and if I didn't know differently, I would think they are in 6th grade.  But I do agree with some others on here... don't want to belittle someone in a public place when they are trying to do some good.   :)

Welcome to the new world of how kids are treated.  Don't keep score during games because if there are winners then there will be losers.  Everyone gets "Congratulations on your Excellent Participation!" certificates.

IMO, if you're going to promote a new publication it's worthwhile to represent that publication well during your promotion attempts.  If I had the greatest website in the world and I went around advertising it as, "Com look @ my new internet guys!! LOL!!!!" it probably wouldn't take off as quickly as I'd hope.

Maybe some posters were a little harsh on the guy, but any new publication like "talk big east" is going to succeed not only on its information but on its readability.  The OP's post was nigh unreadable, so why would I visit a website that presumably contains more of the same?

I'm not trying to hate on the OP.  It's a great first effort and I hope that you take the uncouth criticism in this thread as something constructive and you learn from it :)
