I like Ed Cooley. But he can go Fug himself. And the refs and the announcers. What the f? Was it Ed Cooleys birthday today or some bullshwa?

It was a providence and Ed Cooley love fest. I’m sick of it.

Ed said in the presser that he begins every practice with a simulation of their game plan in the last 4 minutes of every game.

Every practice begins this way because many Big East games come down to the last 4 minutes of the game.

This might be a good idea for Coach Smart and Marquette.

Not being a smartass or ahole, I just think that this would actually be a good idea to start a practice

Providence has been my least favorite team in the Big East since we’ve been in the conference. Ed Cooley, bile he seems like a decent guy, can go F himself.

I’m getting there, while they may be smart and practice crunch time execution, if the MU games against them are any indication it seems his teams get the whistle consistently, maybe due to their physicality, but I think his coaching gets overrated just the same, to be National COY.

0-4 this year in these games.  Young team (I am a COLE) but this needs to improve (and will).

While I never like to see MU lose, in the BE, I can suffer a loss to Providence better than to anyone else just because of Ed Cooley. The guy knows how to put a team together for BE play, and his teams consistently improve as the season goes on. And, when he loses, he does not whine about it.

I definitely respect you as a poster and appreciate your support to the program big time, but I somewhat surprised on your COLE outlook. I look at the other members of that tribe and I think you are too good to be hanging around with crew on scoop. Very surprised to see you in a group that IMO really do not see the big picture and the direction of the program.

I am pissed we lost night, but I believe they will be better for it later in the season. Tony Smith said on the radio a bit ago that he loves the fight the guys showed again last night. He added there are no moral victories, but last night was a helluva game and MU is going the right direction.

Fixed.  It was a derogatory term flung around by Nojos toward Projos who chose to have low expectations last year and of Shaka in general, due to his record at Texas not being very different from Wojo's at MU.

I explained this in pre-season about my expectations. I said we take a step back in Year 2 to take a step forward, but peaking in the 2nd half of the season. Why? We lost our two Alpha Go To guys, we are young and would have to stumble before we had to win, the frosh would have to play key roles.

That said, MU has slightly overperformed, yet MU is 0-4 in close games. You have to fail so you can learn to succeed.

Also in regards to Shaka (and I am all in), the coaching staff needs to focus on situationals which determine about 8 games a year. This tag rightly came with Shaka. As he said after Wisconsin they hadn't practiced end of game plays, my head started to quiver. When you look at Shaka's great overall win record you realize he has a great system. But if the staff also stressed situationals, MU can be elite. Cooley is elite.

Until all this comes together, COLE. Time is a valuable teacher.

Nah, just doing an excellent job the last few seasons.

The way he used the portal to re-load in the off-season actually worked, and it’s not working at a lot of other places

Providence is good, but not as good as its record indicates.  Tough home game wins against UConn and MU.  Still have to play those teams on the road, plus two each against Creighton, X and Nova.

Providence will lose 6 of those 8 games.  My work is done here.

I also heard this for two-thirds of the conference season last year as well.

Hopefully they fall off as the schedule starts to stiffen up

It always feels like Providence is overrated. Then they eke out another close win.  Oh, they suck and got lucky.... after they beat your team.

Yep.
I said last season on several occasions, that at the end of the day what matters the most is wins and losses, and they are BE Champs.

We can talk data all we want, but they’ve got the BE Championship.

Next 3 games are against the top 3 teams in the BE outside of Marquette.
If MU can somehow win 2 of them then things will get really exciting around here.

Watching the game today made me laugh at the scoopers commenting about Marquette's lack of depth a week or so ago. I disagreed then and commented that we have a deep team, as today's game showed. We probably have the deepest team ever.
