Question about the banner ads
« on: April 29, 2008, 02:47:25 PM »
Does Scoop get paid simply to host the ads, or are they based on clicks/purchases?

What I'm really trying to get at here is, if we simply click the ads, will that bring in cashflow to you guys? Or does something need to be purchased for you to get paid?

Got my clicking finger at the ready, just in case.  ;)

That's a slippery slope - I can really only say to to visit a sponsors if it's a product or service you're interested in.

Affiliate programs will have different terms on how you get paid depending on the end product.  However, if we were to encourage our users to do something *just* so that we'd get paid, then we'd violate our TOS and get kicked out of the program (never to be paid).

So, like I said.  If it's something you're interested in, go for it.  Otherwise it's best to just leave it alone.

I second what rocky said.. while we're open to ways to generate income we're not looking to effectively scam any organizations that sponsor ads.  We want to run this site honorably and fairly to all involved - including ad sponsors.  If the ads are not along your interests, suggest some categories that are and we'll look into them.  That way, it's a win-win for everyone.
