Paris is where I had my single worse Blackjack experience that nearly sent me into a murderous rage.  Full $5 table at Paris late morning on a Tuesday, with everyone playing the right way except for the loose cannon next to me but even he hadn't been too bad.  I'm a progressive better with blackjack and had been on a heater so I had $150 down.  Cards come out and I've got a pair of Aces with the dealer showing a 6...I'm in heaven.  Everyone stays until we get to the a$$hat next to me who has a pair of kings and decides to F'ing split them....draws a queen and a 10.  I'm next and split my aces, get a 6 and a 7.  Last guy stays, dealer has 16, hits and draws a 3!  I went from winning $450 to losing $300 because this jack wagon didn't know how to play

Didn't play blackjack for a couple of days after that one....lot of craps though which is usually a blast

Isn't a card game, like flying a tactical jet, a matter of addressing probabilities based on an ever changing set of circumstances?

No such thing as a Golden BB to a Warthog. Damn thing is indestructible.

Now, the F/A-18...sometimes just the pilot farting in the cockpit doinks up the Maintenance FMC rate...

Eh not everyone needs to ride a cast iron tub to work....some of us are good enough to avoid getting hit in the first place.  ;)

Vegas in May. Haven't been in several years, what's good for hotels?

Stayed in a suite and a connected regular room at the MGM with 5 others a few years ago for really cheap. Nothing to complain about with the setup.

Depends on how old ya are and what you're looking for...may is usually pretty hot, I mean temperature-95 to 105 or so not unusual. Yes it's a dry heat. Way different than our 85-90. The pools at hard rock, mirage, mandolay bay has about 7, and Caesars would be my "go to" if I were young and single or just for the, ahem, cough cough entertainment

Sports books- mirage, bellagio, mandolay or aria are my favs,

Food.... All depends on what ya want, from 1$ foot longs to sushi and steak....ask your concierge-everyone has the best....  So go for 2nd best?  I like the monte Carlos steak place-brand steakhouse- it's very good and moderately priced-get the cowboy prime rib on the tomahawk chop bone. Craft steak at mgm is good and the one at mandolay bay is really good.  As I've said a few times on this board-pinks hot dogs outside of planet Hollywood is a treat as you can't get them anywhere west of there.  Sushi in roku-3rd floor of Caesars shops fantastic food and view of the strip

Must see show-terry fator-mirage. Inexpensive relatively speaking and you will want to see him again. Google him and you'll see some of his chit. A singing ventriloquist mimics everyone from guns n roses to Louis Armstrong. Unbelievable

I like the flamingo personally. My dad almost always stays off the strip now, saves you a lot of money if you're not on the strip.

For dinner my favorite place is Delmonico's steak house. Awesome place.

i just got back from vegas yesterday afternoon-they are feeling the pinch and some of their ways to combat it?  i wonder how this may or may not work out for them-

MGM has started-they have eliminated ALL smoking rooms-i really don't care either way, but we'll see what happens there.  rumors are they will start to shrink/eliminate smoking in the casinos-that would be a death sentence as many of the gamblers probably triple their rate of smoking while playing-taking away their mojo

wiped the slate clean of all accumulated points as of 10/1/2015

that one pissed me off because i was mid to high gold level, getting close to the platinum level. i will be calling M-life to see what that's all about because many of the workers still did not fully understand that move.  i still have a fully comp'd suite for march madness at monte carlo-yeah, i know, we'll see how free it was when i check out ::)

there is talk that they are going to start charging for valet and parking even if you are staying at the hotel.  we were just in nashville last summer.  stayed at the hermitage.  one of the premier hotels in the city.  we got it for a pretty good deal at $350 per night.  prices can go much higher depending on S & D -over $400 +  they still charged us for parking!!!!

those are just a few of the changes that are coming, not to mention if they are tightening up the slots, raising the min. bets even during off hours, resort fees, etc etc

with the increase in gaming options, vegas is slowly pricing itself out of the leisure industry.  i still love the city and will continue to go 4-5 times per year mainly because we fly into/out on our way to havasu city.  it will be interesting to see how they try to maintain-what will their new marketing ploy be?

btw-they halted construction of a 2nd giant ferris wheel.

Being on the government dole I was happy to drive with the wife to Boise where we would get a deluxe room at the Econo Lodge for the weekend.

I should have gone to dental school I guess but I have an irrational fear of pruned fingers...

Of the millions of hotels I've stayed at during business travel, the Hermitage is one of my all time favorites. In '97 they had a key offering most hotels didn't -- a telephone within arm's reach of the sh1tter.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

we are kinda like proctologists though, except many people try to talk thru the area we work in...many times we say-their breath smells the same but their faces look a little different-heyna?

the hermitage-gotta talk to the wife as i'd be more than happy to stay at that place where they leave the light on fer ya

phone in the chitter-seems most of the vegas rooms have that-don't understand this, but before cell phones, maybe so ya don't miss a beat with the bookie or just in case ya have an "austin powers" moment

I went to Vegas for a quick 2 nights this past weekend. Someone earlier said O'sheas was closed, but it's definitely open, as we went there for a few hours the first night. It's inside The Linq. We stayed at Bally's and it was about $100 per night. Not bad.

I've been to Vegas now and I've had my best blackjack experiences at Bally's and my worst at Paris. Everyone at Bally's seems to know what they're doing, and if they are in a questionable spot they usually ask the dealer what the book says. Of course, I won $800 at Bally's in two nights playing $10 tables, so i could be a bit biased.

Caesar's was my favorite sportsbook. Tons of TV's and lots of stations open so you don't have to wait too long to place your bets. It was even open at 5:30 AM for the first premier league game.

Bellagio is nice and it's a good atmosphere, but not going to find many cheap tables there. Flamingo had some cheap tables.

Final recommendation: don't be the angry guy at the casino. There's always someone who acts like he can't believe he's losing and gets real pissy. Anticipate losing (or at least go in knowing it's a good possibility). If you come away positive, all the sweeter.

Sun Valley, baby.  It's just like Vegas, only without the glitz and legalized gambling.  And the hookers typically have a bit more clothing.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I've noticed that the Silver Legacy in Reno and Mystic Lake have them too.  Must be a casino thing.  Can't figure out why.

keefe, was just driving back into vegas the other day coming down 15 past Nellis.  All in about 15 seconds four twin tail fighter jets (F-18s ?) take off to the north,  immediately go nearly vertical and bank hard left quickly pairing up and disappearing to the NW.  My thought was 'cool..... hope everything's okay'.

Again, thanks for carrying the sidearm brother.
