Hey Golden Eagles,
I used to keep up a NC State Basketball Recruiting Chart over at PackPride (the NC State Scout boards) which combined all the links and ratings from Scout, ESPN, and Rivals. It got difficult to maintain by hand, so I automated the process, and threw a basic UI together and put it up on the web. I did the same for all the other schools while I was automating it. I threw in YouTube highlights and Twitter feeds for every ranked recruit that I could find, and added the depth chart at the recruits position for each of their offers.
I started cleaning up the rosters on the ACC teams first, and then moved on to the rest of the BCS conferences.
BTW, I haven't gotten to validating the active rosters for schools outside the BCS conferences yet, so that data will be inaccurate due to red-shirts, prep schools, junior colleges and transfers.
Obviously this info does not contain any of the great inside info that you get here at MUScoop, as they'll have all the latest and greatest on Marquette Hoops, but it might make a nice compliment to the info you're getting here. It's more of a 10,000 foot view if that makes sense. It'll also be an easy way to look at other teams scholarship situation.
Anyway, here is the Marquette page and a couple of your recruits' profile pages, (you can navigate to other schools at the top, its a bit wonky, but it should work if you select the team then hit the "Go!" button).
Let me know if you see any corrections, or have any questions. Hope you enjoy!

I'm glad you like.
My bad, I didn't know that you still used the Warriors sobriquet, thought you had switched over completely to the Golden Eagles.

We have. People can't let go.
-
Nice job, especially the links to each players profile. Keep it up.
-
We have. People can't let go.
Why would we let go? Let's just settle for "We are Marquette" and live with it.
-
Great job, thanks for posting.

Officially we have. Unofficially we haven't and I won't let it go until the day I leave this mortal coil...or later.

Is Thomas really going to be a senior next year? Or am I reading the chart incorrectly?
And, we will always be Warriors.

You're reading it wrong.
Class year is the top header. Position is the row description.

Thank you. Great work.
-
wow! Super job thank you like the links to players
-
Thanks Philawolf--those are great links. Has Philly let go of the LaSalle NCAA championship?

No, I think I'm reading it correctly: he'll be a senior. Currently, DJO is listed as a senior on the chart.
But Jake will have TWO years of eligibility...right?

We have? When did this happen?

This is a great site. I like the simple readable layout.

Its interesting that other than Looney, we offered no 5 star players. Hopefully that will change in the next few years.

We have offered a lot of 5 star players. It all depends on which site you're looking at. Looney is a 5 star on some sites and a 4 star on others. We have offered a lot of guys like that. If they are a 4.3 star that means at least 1 site has them at a 5 star.
-
I think I saw it mentioned in another thread, but Wilson and Burton will be playing in an AAU tournament in Milwaukee this weekend(Homestead and Milwaukee Lutheran). If anyone sees them play I would love to hear what you scoopers think of their play.

Like the chart.
Besides all the info on current and incoming Golden Warriors, it offers interesting examples of why one can't get too starry-eyed.
For example, Jae wasn't even a 3-star while Erik Williams was a 4. Mbao was a 3, higher than both Gardner and Otule. Derrick Wilson, Jamail Jones and Juan Anderson all were far more star-decorated than Todd Mayo. Etc., etc., etc.
Once you get past the obvious 5-stars, scouting services are VERY inexact sciences.

Agree totally, the system of ranking kids after the 5 stars is ridiculous. Wilson, Jones and Anderson in my mind might be 1 stars, not high on any of them, hope I am wrong. Juan may have
a chance as he played out of position last year, hopefully he will be good enough to pass Jones and be the back up for Vander. I do not see that much from DWilson compared to other guards in the Big East. D is fine, O shows enough to dribble the ball up the court, maybe he will make a shot in the future. Jones after 2 years, won the Cinci game for MU, but other than that game was a non-factor. One thing positive I can say, is if they work hard on there game, there is an opportunity.
But this year, there are players behind them that will come in hungry for PT time.

Holy crape, this was a lot of work. Thanks hardly seems to cover it.

He will, that was an oversight on my part. I've added his expected red-shirt designation for the current season (and filled in his weight). Just to confirm, I have him coming in as a walk-on, is that correct?

Being able to show my wife quotes like these definitely helps ease the tensions on the home front.

Just tweeted it out on Paint Touches. Thanks for doing this. Very helpful.

A Raleigh MU alum giving a big thanks!

This is a terrific site. Thanks so much for enlightening.
I also learned that Burton needs to learn to use his right hand.

I cannot fathom the amount of work you all put into this site. Truly is an awesome site!!!

This is some great off-season material! Nice work.

Awesome! Hopefully this will help to make up for any Wolfpack fans mentioning the 1974 title game to you in Raleigh. We were all pulling for you a couple of years later when McGuire beat UNC for the title.

We have. People can't let go.
i'm not going to let go-the real question is, why can't THEY let go, we were here first, as in warriors. and if i'm the only one(which i doubt) i will be the last man standing shouting WARRIORS. IT WAS AN UNDEMOCRATIC PROCESS THAT FORCED THE NAME CHANGE DOWN OUR THROATS, so what the buck, chuck-you must be a newbie. ;D my teeth grind every time this comes up and re-occuring facial tics and father wild voices in my head follow...down boy down boy, heal heal, it's o.k. nice thoughts, sea shells and balloons

Your work on this chart is much appreciated, Wolfpack guy. We older Warriors remember the NC State legacy well. Jimmy V was very much like Coach Al. State still fights for respect given media fawning over UNC and Duke--kind of like our challenge with Wisconsin. Here's little mutual respest story for you.
I graduated from MU in 1974 and when visiting the Outer Banks recently had to take my dog to the vet. The vet and I got to talking about old schools and he told me he was at State in 74. From then on we re-lived the game and how the schools got there. State coach Norm Sloan and Al were controversial guys not generally loved nor understood by the establishment, at least not then. In those days, UCLA was always supposed to win the title even though Indiana broken the chain 73. Anyway, between stories of Al, Bo, Luke, Marcus Washington, and State's 7'4"? Tom Burleson, David Thompson (the DWade of his era) and the "little guy [who] killed us" as Al said of diminutive guard Monte Towe, we became fast friends. He had followed MU ball and I the same of State over the years. Nice to have a home and home again with the Wolfpack. Thanks again.
-
My son corrects my fading memory: NC State broke the UCLA chain in 1974 (or it would have been MU), UCLA won again in 75, Indiana in 76 and MU of course, a year later.

Looking at the PF slot shows you the philosophy of Buzz's "switchables".
Hazel, transferred.
Maymon, transferred.
Roseboro, transferred.
No one in current Soph/Frosh classes.
Jae and Jamil played that position all year despite being SFs (according to the designation on the list).
Buzz wants length and speed so I believe that HE believes it's just a position in the front court that needs to be filled.
And not necessarily by a big, bruising body.

What a great story. One of my best friends is from Wisconsin, and his dad is a huge Marquette fan. We've talked a lot about Al McGuire, he was always one of my favorites, much better than that other McGuire. I'd love to have an annual home and home in perpetuity.

Are we playing NC State next year as part of our out-of-conference schedule?

Nothing announced yet. Right now, of our 13 non-conference games, we know we will be playing the following:
- 3 in Maui
- 3 in-state (Wisconsin, UW-Milwaukee, @ UW-Green Bay)
- LSU
.
If I had to guess, I'd like to see a neutral site game against a high-major, a road game against a high-major (starting a one-and-one), and four mid-majors. It's possible one of those two high majors could be NC State, but I haven't seen that announced.
Though what I really want to see next year is the start of a 2-for-1 with Murray State, with the road game in the middle. It was a great game last year, would almost certainly give them a chance to get ESPN2 exposure at worst, and would give us a shot at a home win against a team that will probably be in the tournament and has a returning All-American in Canaan. Then, with our projected powerful 2013-14 roster, we get a shot at a road win against a quality mid-major. My guess is they'd be interested, and it'd be a scheduling coup.

+1 and it was a ton of fun to watch teams struggle to get the ball across half court against us this year. with a healthy otule to provide an anchor (shot blocker) for buzz' full and 3/4 traps teams are going to struggle with it. teams are going to struggle period with what wilson showed as far as shot blocking abilities as well.

MUFC .. The wiki knows all: http://wiki.muscoop.com/doku.php/men_s_basketball/2012
Brew .. are we playing UWM going forward? The contract ran out in December, and last I read we were "working on renewal" but no story that said we'd worked it out.
You never know with UWM if they'll balk at what MU offers, which may be 5 home games, no Cell arena games, take it or leave it.

Buzz seems to like playing the in state programs, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of deal he gives them. What do we have with UWGB, 3 and 1? We could certainly throw that UWM's way. I don't see Buzz not getting something done with them though.
