Why I liked this year's tournament
« on: March 10, 2011, 10:26:32 PM »
Even though we are getting waxed, I do like some things from this tournament:

  • Cadougan has me excited for next year. He's playing like we thought he would. Sure, tonight not incredible, but you can already see he's more aggressive
  • I think our presence down low next year with Otule, Gardner, Wilson and Crowder could really be special...and something different than in the last few years when we were so heavy at the 1 and 2

Those are the main things. Anyway...onto the NCAA.

What I liked: we got whooped tonight.

I don't know what it is, but I was afraid of us gaining too much steam going into the ncaa's. There's something to be said about a good old fashioned chip on your shoulder. A loss tonight gives Buzz some talking points to bring into practice this week. The team we play in the first round will see this game, and the team will be ready to deal with those supposed "flaws" that are trying to be exposed by the opposition.

Then again, these are simply my ramblings after a relaxing night at the bar.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

They gained confidence from this tournament, and although a few players had off nights with dumb fouls and poor shooting due to exhaustion, I think this team walks out of NY feeling good still.  Good effort guys.

They took care of business this week. Clearly tired tonight. Would rather they get some rest before they go dancing, and maybe better to lose and stick around the 11 seed area. Hope they leave NYC feel g good...they should.

The other thing about tonight:

I think MU had a 7-10 seed locked up even if they won. By losing we'll still be in there and face a 1 or two seed in round two (most likely) if we win. I sense an MU vs. Michigan first round game. That's just me.
