D. Wilson. Although he'll hear from Goodell about the helmet-to-helmet hit on Woodall.

Blue running away.  Tough, tough team play though.  GTST.

Blue.  A few turnovers, but he played 40 minutes...at least 10 minutes more than anyone else.

Let me say this though.  There really wasn't anyone that played poorly.  Juan was huge.  Trent did a lot of little things.  Jamil had a real solid second half.

And they were fantastically coached.

Gotta go with Vander. Nice game by DeWilson, but definitely Vander.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Vander Blue, no question.  Although we lose that game without DWilson stepping pretty seamlessly into Junior's role.

Keep your points, rebounds, assists....keep them all.   DeWilson for stepping up and holding the team together for the last 25 minutes.

not that i really care about SOTG, but i think it's supposed to be the player on MU's team that plays the best...not the one that plays better than expected, or has to play more minutes than expected, etc.

i really didn't think he did anything special in the 2nd half, and would expect that level of play out of him.  he missed a free throw down the stretch (when he should have been smart enough to pass it off to better FT shooter), couldn't put the ball in the hoop on a couple easy situations, his defense on the game tying 3 with a second left was awful (along with lockett), and in the end we have to have our 6' pg throwing the ball in because he can't make free throws.

he was solid, but i think we all knew he was capable of doing what he did this afternoon...the reason he hadn't had the chance is because he's not good enough to take the ball out of junior's hands at the end of the game.

OK, I'm going to say this about Derrick Wilson, and I know I'm going to get roasted here.

Derrick Wilson was fine.  And yeah he had only one turnover.  But he also had only one point...and one assist.  He passed the ball around efficiently, but doesn't break down a defense in any manner.  I think he was solid, but not SOTG worthy.

Vander Blue is absolutely SOTG.

Great job filling in by D. Wilson, though.

Sultan, here's where you and I disagree.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/ncaa/men/gameflash/2013/01/12/78871_boxscore.html

In another thread, you praised Trent's play today.   He played 32 minutes, had 3 pts, 3 boards and 1 assist, along with ANOTHER end of game mental breakdown.

DWilson played 31 minutes, had 1 pt, 2 boards 1 assist, held the team together in Junior's absence, and you say that all he did was not screw up.   Why the Trent love?    It can't be all of the intangibles that don't show up in the scorebook, because DWilson's defense was every bit as good today.

D.wilson....come on last year we all would have been cringing when he stepped up to the free throw line at the end of a game.  He calmly hit the first one...and was looking good too!  Plus ran the team really well!

It was this thread, and I really didn't praise Trent's play.  I just pointed out he did a lot of little things well.  So did Wilson.  Neither played poorly by any respect, but neither deserve SOTG.

Blue was easily SOTG.

Gardner would also be an acceptable choice.  I thought J. Wilson had some timely hoops.

Derrick Wilson definitely not SOTG, but played well.

You shouldn't get roasted, and many on this thread have already expressed similar thoughts.

Give Vander player of the game for his driving to the basket points and his free throws. Give Derrick sixth man of the game for minimal turnovers by a substitute point guard.
