No matter what the ruling on Mbao's amateur statis, the best thing for this young man will probably be a red shirt. Give him a year to get acclimated and mature.

Right...because we are so deep on the front line as it stands.

I would not expect much, if anything out of Mbao this year...assuming he gets cleared. If you are, you are likely to be disappointed.

Look at Thabeet's freshman year...24 mpg, 6 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 bpg

I doubt we get anything close to that production.

If he gets redshirted, does he not then have to sit out the suspension the following year?  Just get it over with now and throw him in the mix.  We've already one short on roster size, there will inevitably be injuries, and I'd rather see Yous go through some growing pains.  Redshirting him means you believe Otule and Roseboro will both stay healthy and combine for 40 mpg, or you want to see Hayward log some serious minutes at the 5.

Lucca Staiger had to sit out an entire year at Iowa State, after the NCAA Amateurism Certification Program determined that he played on a professional team in Germany, while he was in HS. Staiger wasnt paid, but TWO players on the team were. He was found ineligible.
Yes, but Todd also points out that the rules are changing.

I heard Mbao is questionable! Hit his head on the rim while backing into position.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I'd just be happy with the four blocks per game!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
HI-FIVE!
EVERYBODY IS HUGGING EVERYBODY!

Re eligibility and ensuing suspension:  Let us pray that whatever rule changes/new legislation on amateurism will allow Mbao to miss very little time.  Hopefully all of these high fives are not wasted and Mbao winds up with the same year long suspension that the kid from Iowa State received.

Does anyone know if the two cases are the same?  What can we expect?  If that kid played on a team where only two guys were paid and he had to miss a whole year I worry that Mbao's fate will be the same.

Per Ganzer this afternoon:
Youssapha Mbao has arrivred in Milwaukee. Happy to have finally made his way to MU - relieved really. Said he worked out in new Jersey most of the summer. Looks like he added some weight/muscle. As far as his height goes, holy crap is he big!
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.
