The last two years we were out of the polls at the end of season.  I will take it.

frankly, we're lucky to be included in top 25 (worst record of all), but wisco climbing to 6?  I can't imagine anyone in top 15 having trouble w/ them on a neutral court.

Were we really? I thought I read earlier this season that Marquette was ranked for more consecutive weeks under Crean that at any time in their history? Didn't I read that? Are you telling me that wasn't true?

The Baajrs beat Texas in Austin.

But that was in December, 2007.  Those games don't count for much now.

Lucky to still be in the top 25 in each poll.   Let's hope we can play our way into a higher ranking and a seeding in the BE tourney.

Honest question....who not in the top 25 should be ranked ahead of us?

Here are the teams that finished behind us

Clemson 64, USC 57, South Alabama 43, Mississippi State 21, Kent State 11, Baylor 7, Pittsburgh 6, Oklahoma 4, Kentucky 3, Cornell 3, West Virginia 3, Western Kentucky 1, Kansas State 1, Saint Mary's 1.

Lucky or not, none of those teams deserve to be ranked ahead of us.

Agreed.  I'd even go further and put MU ahead of some or most of these teams ranked higher...

16. Purdue  24-7   Last Week: Lost to Ohio State 80-77
17. Vanderbilt  25-6   Last Week:  Lost to Alabama 78-73
18. Drake  28-4  Last Week: Def. Indiana State, Def. Creighton, Def. Illinois State
19. Michigan State  24-7  Last Week: Def. Illinois 59-51, Lost to Ohio State
20. Indiana  25-6  Last Week: Def. Minnesota, Lost to Penn State
21. Washington State  23-7  Last Week: Def. Washington 76-73
22. Gonzaga  25-6  Last Week: Def. Santa Clara, Def. Santa Clara 52-48
23. Brigham Young  25-6  Last Week: Def. Wyoming, Def. TCU

These teams all built up better records by playing easier conference schedules.

I love the fact that in the USA Today Poll Wisconsin is ranked ahead of Duke, I know they don't go back and look at head to head records... but didn't Duke beat Wisconsin by 26???

Besides Texas, Wisconsin has played a very vanilla schedule with their vanilla system...

even the new coach here at Platteville (have him for class, he helped run Marquette camps with Coach Deane WAY back in the day) called Bo's system vanilla, however he ended with "and vanilla has been real good for Bo".

Brew City, we haven't beat anyone in our conference, 1-6 against the teams that finished in front of us....

Well, for all who think we deserve to be ranked higher, the post season comes.  Polls don;t mean squat. Post season victories in the Big Dance are the standard.

Polls are worthless now. From here on out, you lose and you are done.

Very true, but I think that's his point...not all conferences are created equally.  Going 1-6 against the teams ahead of you in the Big East then going 4-1 against the top 4 teams, say, in the Missouri Valley.

I have no doubt we're a Top 25 team, I just have doubts we'll win a game in the NCAAs.  I think a lot of others feel the same way, hence the air of negativity here, or as you could also call it, being realistic.

Thanks Chicos, that's exactly my point.  In an easier conference, we wouldn't have lost hardly ANY games.  We have been consistently been pounding teams that are better than the likes of what all of these teams ranked 16-23 have been getting fat on (or in some cases losing to) week in and week out.  I'm just saying that the bottom half of the Top 25 is all pretty flawed.

There are about 12-15 teams that stand above the pack.  I would take MU against any of the others on a neutral court.  And I still say that if we get hot, we can beat anyone.

And, what we all love about March Madness, is that we will now get to see how good we really are.  When it counts the most.
