I can't shake the belief that the NFL wants to keep LA open as long as it can.

Of course they do. Worst thing that can happen for the billionaires running the NFL is for LA to get a team. Can we just give them and Seattle a few franchises each so we can stop hearing about it?

No because they lose their stadium leverage in their current markets.
