I see your point and agree that not a ton of people outside the MU community saw this. That being said, WE are paying attention to it. Fans, alumni, ticket holders. The passionate ones. We are the ones coughing up the dough every year to be entertained.

And my guess is that this press conference won't keep you from coughing up dough every year. Like others have stated, this presser probably wasn't intended for you.

My sentiments as well.  I believe this to be a commitment mechanism.  We have officially put a president in place.  And now, we have made it publicly known that we officially have an AD in place.

The public nature of these pressers means that we cannot back out.  The potential coaching candidate sees this.  It's a way of holding up our end of the deal, as it were.

Its the best that we can do in this situation.  Biggest downside to the job as of Monday was no permanent leadership.  We took care of the big one yesterday, but weren't (and shouldn't be) in a position to move on AD anytime soon (especially before we hire a coach).  So, while it is not ideal to have the AD position "interim" when hiring a coach, at least the prospective coach will know that he'll have one year with Cords--makes it a little more palatable than the possibility you could have a new AD before next season.  This way, whoever the hire should know the guy who he'll be reporting to for the first year and be able to establish himself and system by the time the new AD comes in.

So, I agree--this conference was mostly about signalling stability and commitment.  Hopefully it gives just what these potential coaches what they need--even if it seemed a waste of time to the rest of us.

There are a lot of people from Richmond that watched this press conference. We thought it was hilarious. Keep up the great work!  I'm sure Shaka will be showing up at Marquette any minute now.

I hear Richmond is a great city. But an extra $2Million A YEAR can be very persuasive.

Shaka is officially out. VCU has themselves a loyal one. Props to them.

If out, then certain journalists/posters are about to eat some big time crap.  At least MU went out on a limb and tried.

Deane or O'neil. Maybe Jeter, Wardle or whoever wardle's assistant is.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Tell that to Kentucky who has had three coaches in 7 years.

Rupp retired because he had no choice. Hall retired. Sutton cheated. Pitino went to the NBA. Tubby was there 10 years. They screwed up with Gillespie and ran him out. Calipari will be there til he gets caught cheating or retires. Very poor comparison.
