Marquette Year in Review: Deonte Burton

We apologize for these player reviews being so late into the offseason — Marquette played its last game nearly two months ago — but that pesky thing called the real world got in the way. That, and the coaching chance made us put these bad boys on the back burner. We’ll try and give you […]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=11765&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

An honest review.   Could/Should have played more, a gunner who basically tried to score every time he touched the ball, more of a defensive liability than Mayo according to one metric.  I like him going forward.   He has a very high ceiling.   Must get better on the defensive end, both defending and rebounding.   He is going to be a leader next season.

This could be Burton's team next year. We will be relying on him to play even bigger than his size. He will probably end up with a lot of minutes at the four. I think his speed and athleticism will more than make up for his lack of height.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

The summer should be spent on D, learning to stay in front of people without fouls.
