Big East to represent U.S. at 2019 Pan Am Games

Wonder how many players each team will get to send?  I'd imagine Markus and Sam are locks (assuming they want to be).

This is a really interesting opportunity.  Good for the Big East and coach Cooley.

It will be interesting to see what kind of players they select.  Is it experienced vets?  In that case Markus and Sam are definitely possibilities.  Is it mid-career, mid-level talents?  Then we might see Greg or Koby or Theo.  Is it the best NBA potential talents?  Then it will be Joey.

Agreed, this is great.
And multiple MU kids should get to experience this if we finish in the top two or three as expected this season.

Koby is not a mid level talent.

Wonder if WoJo would be in line to be on the bench

Depending on transfers/early entries, here's a stab at a roster:

Markus Howard, G
Shamorie Ponds, G
Myles Powell, G
Kamar Baldwin, G
Quentin Goodin, G
Collin Gilespie, G
Sam Hauser, F
Alpha Diallo, F
Naji Marshall, F
Mustapha Heron, F
Tyrique Jones, C/F
Nate Watson, C
13? Joey Hauser? Theo John?

Boy do I wish MU could get a player like that.

Interesting. After watching Purdue compete in that before last season, I reached out to Broeker about MU jumping into that because we are eligible for a preseason trip in 2019. I hope they find time and are able to do both. A foreign trip could be huge to help a veteran team with high expectations bond.

I think they would try to get one player from each team in the league .

Seriously?  If the Big East wants to win, they will pick the best players at each position regardless of whether all teams are represented.

Right. It's not an all-star game. It's a competitive tournament and the best players should go.

I am not saying that is what they “should “ do. Rather it is likely what may happen for internal conference politics reasons .

One of my kids played on a national team and that is pretty much how it worked. The Head Coach then got a couple bonus picks that he used on kids from his own team  in that case. Obviously every situation is different . The good news is there are a lot of quality players in the league to choose from.
