Jordan McCabe looked great at Concordia this week.  Were we or UW in on him?  With that talent, suprised he got out of the state.  Thanks for any insight.

This. Many weren't sure he was D1 level. Good for him grabbing a high major offer.

I believe Markus Howard is 6 months younger than Jordan McCabe.  Remind me, which one is in college and which one is a high school junior?

He wasn't going to go to school without football, and Wisconsin style didn't fit his style of play, wouldn't be a good fit.

Jordan McCabe looked great at Concordia this week.
I was there for the Whitnal game. Fun to watch circus dribbling, flashing passing for passing sake and dumb shots thats go in, I guess. The crowd certainly ate it up. Not the kind of guy I would ever want on my team. The guys by me were excited to see the McCabe/Herro matchup because they wanted to see them guard each other since both were running point. I told them no way in hell McCabe guards Herro. McCabe is notorious for picking the worst guy on the opposing team to guard -- he will not be able to do that at the next level.

You say he looked great, he sort of disgusted me. I hate that kind of "look at me/selfish play" -- especially on my team. Not a big fan of his program either, the coach lets him do all that stuff and keeps him just to rack up stats and take even more ridiculous shots as the other team subs their scrubs. Good for him he is getting his college paid for, but def not a guy I would ever want at MU.

Herro took some dumb shots too and it was definitely not his night, nothing was falling. On the other side, I thought Terrance Lewis from Riverside had the look of an MU guy. He has grown his game a ton in the last two years. Mike Flory played against Lewis before the McCabe/Herro game. Flory looked decent but I don't think he is a D1 guy any longer. Good high school player and will probably be a D2 guy. Tyrese Halliburton, the shooting guard on Flory's team, is "the guy" on that team now, he has about 10 D1 offers.

Easily the best motor in the class -- gritty kid who just gets after it. Plays both ways and shies away from no one. He switched AAU teams to join Herro in the EYBL this spring/summer, so he will get more exposure. He has a few low D1 offers, but I suspect that will change after spring. It was fun watching him and Halliburton go at it because they are such good friends. They got double techs late in the game. I know both pretty well and asked Los what he said to get the T. He said he just winked at him (then he laughed). Both kids will be playing D1 ball, but not sure MU is on either seriously.

I don’t know. He has started 6 games for huggy and averages more than Bailey.  Seems like a pretty good contribution from a frosh.  But to each his own.

Saying that he compares well to Bailey, and if you look at the advanced stats that's even questionable, isn't exactly high praise.

There’s a reason why WVU went from a top 10 team last year to the worst team in the B12. The PG position is why.

Their whole squad has issues up and down the roster, but indeed McCabe has been - and I don’t mean this in the wrong way - awful

Haha, not knocking or supporting McCabe at all. But that is simply a horrible uninformed take on WVU, between what they lost after last season and what has gone on this season, to blame it on McCabe

The point guard position.

Nevermind the fact that they lost a ton of really good seniors and the 5? Players during the course of the season do to dismissals and injuries, including their top scorers.  Lets pile it all on a freshman, because of some animosity towards him. What a joke.
Its like saying Buzzs last year was all John Dawsons fault.  Just stupid.

Buddy.  The point guard position.  McCabe plays 14 minutes per game.  The aren't playing 26 minutes a game with only 4 guys on the court.

No he's hardly an idiot for recruiting him.  Coaches take flyers that they hope have huge upside all the time.  Ike Eke for example.  If it doesn't work out, both parties move on.

Obviously, Jordan is not anywhere near being the root of WVU’s issues.  But, his 39.3% eFG% does  indicate that he has been rather awful as you post.

Maybe not an idiot for Huggins to have recruited him, but he never seemed like a Huggins player to me.  Huggins's teams are usually physically and mentally tough, defensive oriented players.  McCabe is a flashy offensive tiny guy who has never played a second of defense in his life.  Even if he was 100% committed to being the best defender he could possibly ever be, he just doesn't have the physical gifts to be good on that end of the court, and he certainly has never been coached to be fundamental on that end of the court.
