Were forties even a thing in the early '80's?  I guess when you are legal to drink, you are not so worried about maximizing the size of the container.

There was legislation to ban 40 oz. in the 90's, although I don't think it ever passed in Milwaukee.  I'm also not sure when this began, (or if it's still in effect), but when I was at MU you couldn't purchase alcohol after 9:00.

Still can't.

As for the forties, I was trying to buy some around campus in 2005 and was told by the clerk at Dany's that the owners of the liquor stores around MU actually agreed not to stock them. They were/are available in other areas of the city.

In 85/86 when I worked for Richey and Paulie, only the locals went in for the 40 ouncers.  But they sold a fair amount.

We wanted to make him graduation speaker in 1991 for his support in selling to underage students for the last 4 years.  He would have been an improvement of whomever was my speaker.
