Let's take another look at the time Tommy from Quinzee weighed in on hockey.

Great game. I love playoff hockey.

Well I have already been proven wrong.  Blackhawks are obviously twice as talented, offensively, as my Penguins.

This game illustrated the two reasons hockey is unlike any other sport and so difficult to predict:

1. Goaltending factor. Both played well, but Crawford was especially amazing in the OTs. A team can do everything superbly but sometimes just can't get the puck past the goalie.

2. Luck factor. The Hawks dominated much of regulation but the Bruins were all over the Hawks' end in the OTs. They were hitting posts, having pucks roll off their sticks when the net was open, etc. Then the Hawks score the winner on a double-deflection. No basketball team ever scored the winning hoop on a shot that went off one person's arm and another's knee.

Agree as a Hawks fan the puck bounced there way last night.  However, the Bruins had the bounces against the Penguins..how many posts did the Penguins hit in that series?

Hell of a game, Hawks escaped and Crawford was unbelievable.  Will be interesting to see if Horton is able to play the rest of the series.

That one stings, the turnover by Krug in the Chicago zone was an absolute killer.  Was very impressed by Crawford especially, dude can flat out play.

Best team Boston has played by far.  No word on Horton yet from the Boston media, but if he can't play Seguin moves to that line, which actually looked good in OT teamed up with Lucic & Krecji, but leaves the 3rd & 4th in rough rough shape.

What a game!  Over 100 shots on goal and incredible effort by both teams including the frantic overtimes. This is going to be a great Stanley Cup

Hawks got the better bounces, but those OTs were back and forth.  The Hawks hit a post or two and Bickell, I believe, had a shot over Rask's shoulder glance off a defenseman and go about 6 inches high, otherwise it was in the upper corner.  Sucks that either team had to lose. Those OTs were as rugged and even as you're gonna see.

I think the best thing about the Hawks is their depth. Frequently, I saw the 3rd and especially 4th lines were dominating

+1. Last night Kane, Toews and Sharp did nothing. Hossa had an assist. All the goal scoring came from their 3rd and 4th lines.

that turnover leading 3-1 was the turning point, imo.  Goat's horns for Krug.

3rd lines wins championships. Look at 2010, my favorite line during that run was the Bolly, Ladd and Versteeg line.

I wasn't trying to say the Hawks were luckier than the Bruins or vice versa. I was merely saying that luck plays a bigger part in hockey scoring than it does in basketball, football and baseball.

Every game in this series needs to go to OT. Another great game.

Many good chances for both sides all game, but it seemed the bruins were a step quicker in OT.

+1

I actually thought overall the Bruins played slightly better in game 1 and the hawks played slightly better in game 2. And of course each game went the other way. That's how close it was played.

Another great performance by the B's, the loss of Hossa really threw your lines off.  Not even to have Smithm who only played 1 game this year, not even warm up again seems odd.

Your coach seems like a tinkerer of sorts, what the hell was Toews doing out there with some 4th line guys for some shifts?

I am assuming he is trying to do something to generate offense.  I mean outside of a couple minute stretch in Game 1, the offense has been inconsistent at best...pathetic at worst.  The Bruins are simply too physical and there isn't much the Hawks can do.  This is one of those series that if were played on the larger, international sized ice surface that the Hawks would be the better team.  But it's not.  And I think the Bruins will get this in six.

Power play.  Power play.  Power play.

Bruins just dominating an already weak power play.

And that ice is heavy--both teams looked to be in slow motion, especially when trying to get to speed.

If Hossa's out for game 4 or longer the Hawks don't have a chance.  Not that he's given much production lately, but it completely disrupts the Hawks lines and forces them into a tough situation: you either load up with Kane, Toews, Bickell/Saad/Sharp, or you have 4 pretty average lines.  Can someone explain why Ben Smith is out there over Hayes, Mayers, or pretty much anyone else on the Hawks roster?  Guy should not be out there.

Power Play sucks but that's been the case all year.  I don't expect much to change there at this point of the year.

Cuz you were real chatty after game 1 and everything....

Loss of Hossa really hurt. If he doesn't come back I don't see how we pull it out.

That said, if this loss lights a fire under our ass and we win Game 4 I think the Hawks will still win in 7. Lose the next one and we're done.

How are the Hawks lucky to not be down 3-0?  If the hawks don't have a goal taken away in game 2 to go up 2-0 in the game they very likely win that game.  There's a fine line between winning and losing, but it's not like the Bruins deserve to be up 3-0 or have significantly outplayed the Hawks.  Each game except for last night has had a razor thin margin for error.  Your going to compare Hossa to Campbell?  A guy who was a +2 for the year......ok

oops. screwed that up....anyway, I posted after game 1 that the sloppy clearance by Krug cost the Bruins the game.  Bruins are playing with injuries and Campbell broke his leg in the Pens series.  Where are those guys who said Boston would be lucky to steal one at home and that Eastern Conference was an inferior product?

Truth be told, 'Hawks are lucky to not be down 3-0.  Krug handed them a goal and then there was the "own goal" off Ference's skate.  He was outside the posts.
