1. Joey
2. Joey.
4. Doesn't matter
-
Joey or Ed.
Joey if I have to decide.
-
Joey.
-
Joey!
Clutch shooting, efficient
-
Ed.
If he didn’t step up Happ would have taken it away running.
Joey in reserve.
-
That has to be the worst 28 pt performance I have ever seen, at any level. wow markus. but what a game
-
Ed. That block was the game.
-
Joey. Stone cold.
Honorable mention to Ed
-
I'm going with Sam Hauser. 13 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists.
Joey also a great choice.
-

Whoa, didn't realize Sam had that many boards. Co-studs to the Hausers, we need to breed more of 'em
-
Ed Morrow, yes the Hausers had great stat lines and Joey had some great threes, but:
Morrow's block on Happ in last minute.
His rebound and then offensive basket kept momentum going.
Then the two free throws.
Kudos to the crowd, that place seemed to be going crazy today.
-
Joseph Hauser was the 2nd best player on the floor today. Howard did do a really nice job on Trice FWIW. I wouldn't have a problem with Morrow.
-
1. Joey
2. Eddie
3. Sammy
4. Markus. Hard to believe he’s 4 but he is.
Always good to beat Bucky. Ranked again? Go Warriors!
-
MOAR HAUSER!
pick the sotg.
-
Ed. Big block. Big rebound and basket. Big ice ft.

I'm going with Sam Hauser. 13 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists.
Joey also a great choice.
Me, too. One of the Hausers, but Sam gets my vote.

Ed.

Sam with the 14 rebounds.

Ed

Ed.
Dis^^^^^^
-
Ed slammed the door, but Joey with just a huge game to keep us in it when we slipped up a bit
-
Ed or Joey. Both were Studs.
-
1. Ed
2. Hausers
-
Ed. No block, potentially ballgame. Putback huge. And calmly breaking the atrocious FT slide. Joey kept us in it, I think Ed "won" it.
-
Joey, Sam, Ed. Pick one.
-
1.Sam
2.Joey
3.Ed
4 Brad Davison
-
Sammy. Honorable mention to FROSH Joey and the baaaaaaadddd man Ed.
-
Ed...that put-back, his loose ball hustle and defense was great in the 2nd half. Kudos to Wojo for going with him down the strech... I probably would have thrown Theo back in under 4 min.
-
Ed Morrow, yes the Hausers had great stat lines and Joey had some great threes, but:
Morrow's block on Happ in last minute.
His rebound and then offensive basket kept momentum going.

And placing his vertebrae squarely on Happ's forearm.
But still Joey
-

I need to go back and watch again, but real surprised and happy they didn't call Ed for traveling on that one.
-
1. Ed
2. Turnover margin
-
Joey 5-8 from the field and 3-5 from three for 15 pts... efficient as hell
-
SOTG
1. Joey Hauser
2. Ed Morrow
Near Goat of the Game -- Markus Howard.
-
Ed totally looked like a stud tonight.
-

Agreed. Ed only scored 5 points, but Marquette wouldn't have won without him and he stepped up big time when the team needed him most. That block will go down as one of the highlights of the season. Total stud.
The students and the crowd were outstanding. Everyone in the lower bowl was standing for most of the last 10 minutes of the second half, including the entire overtime. A great, high-energy atmosphere.
-
Ed. That block was the game.
The only reason Ed had the opportunity for that block was because of his own defensive lapse. Made a great play to recover but that’s a net zero outcome. His put back bucket was huge. Yes he travelled but only because he was being simultaneously fouled by three guys. Box score says Sam, eyes say Joey.
1. Joey
2. Davison
3. Ed/Sam
-
Eddie and the Hausers. Give the sister a schollie too.
-
Joey.
Ed made a couple of critical plays but we absolutely lose this game without Joey playing like a senior. The move he put on Happ to open the game was a thing of beauty, and quite advanced for a freshman.
-
SOG Means performance under pressure, therefore, Ed
-
Ed.
-
Markus is going to be overlooked bc of his poor shooting but again he created a ton of our offense.
I'd go with Joey but Markus is always our most important player
-
Four good options here.... Ed, Markus, Joey, Sam. I’d be happy with any of the 4 but Ed’s plays were critical.
This may have been the game where these Warriors found there identity!
-
Ed. That block saved the game.
-
That has to be the worst 28 pt performance I have ever seen, at any level. wow markus. but what a game
I want to like this kid but...my goodness!
I’m not even sure he belongs in D1. And I understand he had a 50 point game, and a 45 point game and 27 points today. He’s just the weirdest player ever.
-
Confused at all those picking Joey over Sam. Similar points but Sam with 14 rebounds to Joey’’s 1. Sam 4 assists to joey’s 0. Sam 0 turnovers to Joey’s 1. Joey 4 fouls and Sam 2. Sam’s stat line is absolutely worth stud of game unless you go with Ed for end of game. Joey with very good game, Sam by far best player on MU today.
-
Ed.
-
Gotta be Steady Sam
-
A lot of potentials. Definitely not Howard with 22 missed shots from the field. Either of the Hausers would be fine by me.
-
1) Bo for being to busy BOning mistresses on taxpayer dime to recruit Sam, and prioritizing Brevin freaking Pritzl over Sam freaking Howard. Oops!
2) Brad Davison for punching more nads than scoring points. Thanks for showing up kid!
3) DJ Snack Daddy for playing Jump Around after the win. Outstanding!
1) Sam
2) Joey
3) Ed
Honorable mention to Ethan Happ. Goodness gracious is he good. It's not often that an entire division 1 college basketball team graduates in the same season, but that is the case for UW this season.
I remember last year people scoffing at the idea that Happ was an All American player, despite the fact that he was quite literally named an AA his sophomore year. There is absolutely no question he's an AA. He might be the NPOY this year.
-
I want to like this kid but...my goodness!
I’m not even sure he belongs in D1. And I understand he had a 50 point game, and a 45 point game and 27 points today. He’s just the weirdest player ever.
Wait, what?
He's been inefficient this year because he is our only creator. He's going to be our all time leading scorer. Without him we would be unbelievably bad offensively
-
1) Sammy
2) Ed
3) Markus
4) Joey
You can't ignore 13 points and 14 rebounds. Sam was the calming force in a very tough and grind it out game.
Ed shined the brightest in the most critical moments. Massive block and the offensive boards and putback at the other end. He looked like man possessed. I'll need to check, but I'm pretty sure from the moment he subbed in for John when he picked up his 4th, Happ only scored 4 more points. Below Sammy IMHO because he didn't show up until the end.
Markus. I swear he is the most hated player in Marquette history the way people talk about him. In a game where the opponents defense was smothering, he went out and got us points. We love to gripe about his misses, but if he doesn't take those shots, we lose this game. A bad shot by Markus is a better than a good shot by most of the players on this team. He also played very well on Trice. Made him uncomfortable for a lot of the game. The 60% 3P shooter went 1-6 and Markus was a part of that.
Joey. He made some big shots and we needed them, but that's all he brought to this game. Damn near a goose egg on the rest of the stat line. He was also responsible for a lot of the blown coverages that led to open threes for Reuvers and Ford. Reuvers was off his game fortunately.
-
Ed. No block, potentially ballgame. Putback huge. And calmly breaking the atrocious FT slide. Joey kept us in it, I think Ed "won" it.
Ed, yes such important moments.
-
Ed won this game for us in the 2nd half.

Whoa, didn't realize Sam had that many boards. Co-studs to the Hausers, we need to breed more of 'em

that comment ruined your cred man. i get that you may not drink the mh koolaid, but come on. his creativity freed up some people. he definitely gets a little more of the attention of the other team even when he's off a little. you never know when he's going to start lighting it up. if an opposing team thinks it can lay off him a little cuz he's a little off his game? look out!
or yeah, SOTG-ed was solid when we needed solid

You're not sure he belongs in D1? Holy #@$@
I'll go with Ed for SOTG
-
Ed for stud of game; Sam established himself in the same game as stud of the year, if that makes sense, in my opinion...

Ed

True but a common occurrence for Sam. People just expect consistently good play from Sam not from his first year brother. Both had great games and are efficient. Hope we see more shots from the Hausers, THEO and Sacar and 1/3 less from Marcus. Marcus is a great shooter but needs to have better shot selection and look for outlet passes more. Hero ball simply does not work.
-
Another HM goes to Brevin Pritzl’s facial hair. Goodness gracious is that an awful look.
-
Gotta be Ed. That block was “game over” type manhood. Without Ed doing what he did, we don’t win even with the great day from both Hausers.
-
Ed
-
Ed. Sam
If he didn’t step up Happ would have taken it away running.
Ed andJoey in reserve.
Can I update - after looking at the boxscore Sam was definitely the Stud. Ed was the hero - but a double-double with 4 dimes, no TOs and only 2 fouls in 41 minutes is studly.
-
Joey Chartouny, only missed 3 layups and two free throws for 0 pts. Box score says he had 3 assists but I can't remember one. Hope GE is healthy and 100% before Big East starts.
-
Mr. and Mrs. Hauser
Sam
Ed
Joey
Markus
Yes, Markus had a poor day from the floor, but you would never have known it from his body language and the way he battled his ass off to the last second. We don’t win if he gets down and stops wanting the ball because his shots weren’t falling. He puts a lot of pressure on the D and draws a ton of attention that frees up others for rebounding and other opportunities. With a cold hand yesterday, fewer shots would have been advisable, but most were decent looks for him that he feels confident he’ll make. Cut the kid some slack, he is a unique talent and not a finished product. Learning that balance on when to shoot is a process he’s clearly still going through. The challenge is in part because he has a unique ability to create shots, so the decision making is more challenging for him than others who could never get off that many shots in a game if they wanted to. There were numerous times in the game I wanted Sam or Joey to shoot, but UW closed out just enough that they didn’t pull the trigger because of the length in front of them. I don’t buy that Markus isn’t a team player, though I have seen Sam show some frustration with him at times. MH is learning, and I’m damn glad he is on our team as he goes through that. He has improved a ton overall over the past couple years (despite shooting %) and I presume he will continue to do so with his decision making. Part of the reason he has games where he is on fire and can carry us is because he is not afraid to have a shooting performance like he did yesterday. It happens, he should have reined it in a bit at some point, but he also kept playing hard and carrying a lot of the weight for the team.
-
Joey Icewater.
-
Sam
-
I normally don’t do this, but Ed has the two biggest plays down the stretch so I’m going with him.

Ed

I have read some seriously crazy stuff here on Scoop but this takes the cake. WTF????
Did you pay attention to his lockdown defense on a guy who has been ridiculously good all year?
Even on a bad offensive night he was still critical to this win.
-

Good to have you back, PRN, but this is a terrible take.
-
If you need a tie breaker... It was Sam's birthday
-
I normally don’t do this, but Ed has the two biggest plays down the stretch so I’m going with him.
Agreed. Looking at the box score, it's tough to justify, but he really played big down the stretch, and he also hit the two free throws when no one else could hit one. The block saved the game, the putback won it, he was the biggest player in the biggest moments.
If not Ed, I'd say Sam then Joey. Sam was huge on the glass, Joey hit some big shots and showed some great moves.

This. Exactly this.

There were numerous times in the game I wanted Sam or Joey to shoot, but UW closed out just enough that they didn’t pull the trigger because of the length in front of them.
This was my observation, too. On 3 or 4 occasions, I literally yelled at the TV, "Shoot, Sam!" But by the time I finished saying "Sam," a defender was there and he couldn't shoot.
Markus is not a PG, not the way most of us think of PGs. He's not even a "scoring PG" in the mode of Kyrie or Kemba. He simply does not see the court as well, see the openings he creates for teammates. I don't mean that to sound like a knock; every player has strengths and shortcomings, and this is Markus' main shortcoming. I hope he gets better at it as the season progresses and he gains experience being what he has to be for us, but I also am a realist. Markus has a very unique skill set, and I am thrilled he is a Warrior ... even if I'm not even sure he belongs in D1.
As for SOTG ... this game presents the most difficult choice for the mods that I can remember. There is no one (or even two) obvious choices, where you say, "It's gotta be X."
I lean slightly toward Morrow, not only for delivering the two absolutely critical plays but also for playing every minute at the 5 down the stretch of regulation and OT, and making Happ earn every point.
-
ED
Sam
Joey

I think the box score would say Sam. 13 pts/14 rebs/4 ast/0 TOs. Eye test would probably say Joey. But in terms of clutch play it'd be Ed. And he was the only one that had a chance against Happ defensively, though honestly, Happ had his way with just about everyone.
-
Brew just nailed it.
- Box score is Sam.
- Watching the game I give it to Joey.
- Getting them over the finish line was Ed.
Markus was only a runner up. I like Sam simply because he seems to take a serious leadership role every game directing the team on the court. It doesn't show anywhere except in the W's.
-
Sam, Joey, Ed, Marcus, and Wojo. All contributed to the great win. Sam's rebounds were huge.
-
Sam
-
Tough call for the mods. Eye test says Joey or Ed. Stat sheet says Sam. Even after sleeping on it. I do like BC77 takes about Ed's two plays - one getting us to OT and the other securing the win - while doing a yeoman's job on Happ who flashed a heckuva game yesterday. My advisory opinion (we don't have votes) would be Ed.
-
Really a tough call here. Ed had the biggest individual plays of the game, but the Hauser's were also very solid. Despite Markus' terrible shooting he was a factor getting UW in foul trouble and getting to the line.
Also, to Markus' credit, he held the best 3-point shooter %-wise in the nation to 1-6 from deep. He did a good job on Trice. Even though Happ had a monster game, the team contained Wisconsin's other scorers.
-
Sam, Joey, Ed, Marcus, and Wojo. All contributed to the great win. Sam's rebounds were huge.
Yes, it was certainly a team effort.
-
Stud for the "entire" game was Sam. Loved Morrow at the end, but Sam was the man.
-
Morrow made some very big plays, but I would go with Sam.
-
gotta love it-reading some articles on the game-joey hauser, sams hauser's "LITTLE" brother...no big deal, but wouldn't YOUNGER brother be a little ;) more accurate?
-
Went with Sam. Consistency, double-double.
Ed (and Joey) had a couple "plays of the game". Markus impressive from the line.

That's how I saw it too Rock. (You may want to edit your 'Markus from the line'. He uncharacteristically missed 3/4 at the end. Those 2 were especially huge. He would be the first to tell you that 80% is unacceptable.)

Reasonable.
Good job, as always.
You've earned your massive paycheck again!!
-
Using logic and reason. Pffff
-
Honorable mention to Joey for literally "taking one for the team".
-
Ed Morrow, yes the Hausers had great stat lines and Joey had some great threes,
I have a question about this and apologize if it is mentioned elsewhere... I swear one of those great threes he had a foot on the line, but they never showed a replay. It was maybe his 2nd 3 in Happ's face.
-

The ref signaled that they would look at it during the next TO and nothing was ever announced so I'm guessing that they either didn't have enough to overturn, or he was behind the line.

But they are cryboxing about that in Buckyville! (Like they lost by 1!)

According to NET they did lose by 1 :P
