I agree that no one played well enough to be sotg this time. A really ugly game. But, if anyone does deserve it, has to be either Stevie or Chase Ross. Congrats also to Ben Gold for the good minutes he provided. This was the worst they have played since Miss State.

Chase was the only one who truly brought his A game, but obviously it’s Kolek.

I am the stud of the game. Had to give up my tickets to be in Madison, bleh, couldn’t wear MU gear as my son is here for a soccer ID camp. Sat in Union South, giant tv, sound on, loved every minute of it. Well, not all of if, what a slog. And Stevie, I’ll go with Stevie.

OMax. Defense won it and I think he was our best and most disruptive defender today that had a least a little offense. There were at least two times when Butler was getting some momentum that he ripped the ball out of a passing lane and started a break going the other way. On offense he didn't turn it over and got a few important buckets.

Kolek, Chase, and Stevie all have arguments as well.

In the first half, Omax essentially played no-help defense on Likosius.   Likosius made one basket when MU was in transition recovery mode.   In the second half, they started switching and not keeping OMax on the floor just to guard him.  Likosius heated up.   He scored one basket when OMax was guarding him, the drive that he scored over OMax and Oso.

Chase had the best game. It seemed the others didn't have their A game today.

Stevie

I wouldn't go SOTG for him, but I rewatched that final minute possession yesterday. Holy crap, just absolute NSFW level defense from Stevie. His ability to switch on to three consecutive ball-handlers was incredible. He is absolutely just as crucial to this team as any other member of the starting five.

I agree that Stevie is a big part of this team, and he plays his role very well. His last defensive stance was a clinic.

I don't know how Stevie got so up into their grills without fouling. And he didn't foul. Classic.

That said, Chase played some extra valuable bench minutes and seemed to get MU a big basket when the team needed it most.

Stevie is a better on-ball defender than McNeal was IMHO. Jerel was very good at anticipating passes and stepping in to passing lanes, and also at raking the ball away if opponents got too close to him with the dribble. Stevie excels at staying in front of his man (or several men, as he demonstrated Saturday) and will just dog his opponent into submission.

I dont think we appreciate Stevie as much as we should. Lotta opponents message boards talk about Stevie like many talked about b10 dpoy Morsell. How he just takes people out of the game.

He's a huge domino for us.
