CHICAGO – Marquette is in a bad place.

Unfortunately for the Golden Eagles, it is a spot they have been in before.

The Golden Eagles suffered through an ugly, foul-plagued performance on Tuesday night at Wintrust Arena and were handed a brutal 69-68 loss to DePaul.

MU (18-11, 8-9 Big East) has lost five of six and is skidding toward the end of the season in much the same way it did last year when the Golden Eagles lost six of their final seven games, including the postseason.

The MU players looked shell-shocked trudging off the court and into the locker room.

Teams have  learned to harass Markus and trap so he cannot find an open man. If an open man is found it is usually with final few seconds of possession and results in hurried shot. Wojo has to recognize that

Wojo proving beyond the shadow of a doubt he has no counterpunch. Again. And sadly the players know it.

While both collapses are disappointing, the causes for last year vs this are super interesting:

MU does high pick and roll with MH almost every time. The problem is Howard never passes to the roll so the defense hedges hard and doubles to smother Howard. He is too small or unwilling to find the open man. You would think the coaches would make some type of adjustment.

It's starting to sound like we should be a better team w/out Howard.

Oh yeah...

How dare you. And we all know it was the Hausers fault and Wojo let it happen.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Players can’t tell coaches how to run a team, or else.  They may be right, but you can’t threaten if that is what happened and expect anything good to come of it.
