UW at the Kohl Center
« on: January 03, 2012, 08:29:21 PM »
looks like Bucky lost its mojo at home.  three home losses already this season for Wisconsin is an aberration, and it certainly doesn't help us.  Beating Wisconsin was supposed to be our big non-conference win, but now it just looks average.

Yeah, looks like both UDubs (Wash and Wisc) are doing their best to undermine our wins over them.

It is definitely better than an "average" win. That's silly.

Did anyone see the end to that game? The backboard time clock was at 0 but the main scoreboard clock was at .1 when Evans got the ball out of his hand and made the shot to tie it in OT. I still can't figure out if they got the call right. Tough way to lose, but I have to admit I am surprised it went against Wisconsin.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I am actually shocked that they didn't hand it to Becky.  That ref Salvatore(sp?) tried his best to keep the dream alive at the Kohl Hole.  Did you see that flop by Gasser?  Even the announcer said you don't see that called in College BBall.  I thought to myself--see you do, in Madison.

In real time I thought the buzzer went off clearly before the shot. However, the first replay showed he got it off with .2 seconds left, and I was pretty surprised. Either way, classic reaction by Bo. How Badger fans can call any other coach a whiner is beyond me.

A few years ago the NCAA had all teams install the red border that lights up on the back board when the time runs out. I am pretty sure that when the back board lights up the game is officially over. It is hard to feel bad for a home team whose equipment is not properly working.

To Bo's credit, he gathered himself, shook hands, and congratulated Sparty. I've seen one Big 10 coach who would have pulled the frozen tit in a similar scenerio.

Just read that the clock above the backboard is the official clock for this very reason. So in essence they didn't get screwed, but I'd still be irate if it were Marquette.

Yeah, after he stomped his feet like a baby and called the refs (who absolutely made the correct call) motherfuc*ers a couple times. You really have to credit Bo!

Compare Bo's post gamecomments with Jordan Taylor's:

Bo

On if he had a chance to review the final play:
“I got a look at it on the monitor. From a distance - I’m standing back - I thought they were just questioning whether or not it was a three. It was ruled good, so I always thought it had to be inconclusive, and it must have been inconclusive. So no, I haven’t broken it down yet. I probably will though.”

Jordan Taylor

On how tough it is to sit through a replay review at the end of the game, with fate not in the team’s hands:
“It’s definitely tough. We were pretty positive though; we had an upbeat stance on our side. We felt like they got [the shot] off, but the refs made the right call, according to the rule book, so good job on their part. It doesn’t come down to a last shot. There were a lot of things that we need to correct to avoid a situation like that.

And this tweet sums up the Fadger's week:

"#Badgers probably not the biggest fans of clocks these days."

I was thinking the same thing last night.  How many times can a coach YELL "Mother F***kers" directly in the ref's face before they do/say anything?
Seems to happen a lot.

Why do people think that calling UW-Madison "Becky" is funny or insulting?

To me that'd be like calling MU, MOO.

MSU should have gone to the Rose Bowl where they would have won.  They were the only Big Ten team to win a bowl game anyway.
Sparty was jobbed by a ticky-tack call in the Big Ten Championship; this is divine justice.

Nope.  Correct call.  Clock on the scoreboard is the official one. The Madison paper this morning had a comment from Driscoll.  He is the official that made the signal.  He had the Rule Book and cited that the clock on the basket is the official time.

Someone said that UW has a right to be po'd, even if the call is correct.  Wasn't the game at the Kohl Center?  Aren't the clocks UW's?  If there is anyone to blame, it can be found on UW's campus ...

Reminds me of BBFran, the UW,UWM fan who calls MU the "Giggles" (for Golden Eagles). At best, marginally clever sophmoric humor the first time that ages quickly and poorly.

Well then, if you are correct are win there diminishes in importance. Be carefull what you hope for. I would prefer to see UW have a good year. If they flop, we will end up with Zero quality non-conference wins.

Too bad MU doesn't have a roster stacked with traditionals. It's the only thing standing between us and an 0-2 home record to open conference play.

Media need to start taking the "All-American" descriptor out of their comments regarding Taylor.

He has been awfully unimpressive this season. The curse of hyped expectations.

The problem is that Taylor doesn't have a Jon Leuer or Keaton Nankivil to fire the ball back to him for open shots... or to draw defense.

It was sarcastic.  4ever started a topic the week leading up to the MU vs. UW game after UW had lost by 2 on the road to UNC that was titled "Don't look now, dudes..." and the post was "'cus Bucky is damn impressive."  He was trying to imply we had no chance to win in the Kohl Center.  Then last week after losing at home to Iowa, 4ever began a new topic titled "Bucky ain't that good" with the post being "Take our win with a grain of salt."  Pretty contradictory in my opinion, so I'm just poking a little fun.
