After being laid off in mid November, I received a solid job offer this afternoon.

I’d been pretty bummed out the last couple months, was having a great year, and my entire team got obliterated from the company I used to work for. Between being let go right before the holidays, the world with Covid, winter seasonal disorder...it was really difficult mentally if I’m being honest.

Job offer (that I’m accepting) is for a company I previously worked for, in the same role I had before. I had good success there previously and am hopeful I can duplicate it again.

I love this board, you guys/gals all have different opinions/takes, and what makes us different makes this a great place to interact. Stay healthy everyone and cheers to you all.

Great to hear Dish!
Rule #1: Never burn your bridges when you leave a company and this is why.

I was depressed in 2009 when laid off from a job.  It was a hard 6 months between April through September.  But I wasn't dealing with a Coronavirus pandemic, winter nor the holidays on top of it so I can't even imagine what you went through.
All the best.

Love to hear good news being dish-ed out.

Yesterday was the first day since August 2 that my department has had no active COVID cases or anyone in quarantine.

Nice!  Smart and athletic.  I thought Ivy Leagues did not give out athletic scholarships.

they don't, they're need based grants based upon the FAFSA. However, there are a limited number of "matches." For example, if he was Cornell's #1 target and Princeton came back with a higher offer then Cornell could match it.

That is very cool, CT!

They work around, as far as I know.  Thanks for all the well wishes.

We'll be looking for post game wraps starting next season.
Maybe a future non-conf opponent for Marquette.

Nurse Chick Jr. got her first Covid shot today.

She was told originally that she would have to wait 90 days after her bout with Covid, but apparently they changed the rules.
Have some patience, FFS.

For someone who thinks that MU needs to emphasis scholarship and endowment funding over buildings, I have to say that the new business school does look impressive in that location. And no bonding!  That is a positive.

I like the double rectangle as it really breaks up the building and provides interior natural light and a visual break from the street. It looks great, and even I am excited to see it take shape. So much better than a large block building. And, it blends a more modern with traditional feel very well. Fits in, yet is more modern. Glad they didn’t continue the gothic style or gothic with a modern feel.

So, I like it, and I have changed my thoughts on its value. I will say that at that location it might just help us out with the other fund raising, especially from businesses if it can be a hub of events and something that gets corporate activities and training on campus.

Anyone know who it will be named after?  A certain Lake Forest (I think) resident and NBC personality as rumored?

It looks nice. In the video that Lovell emailed out, there was a comment about the cafe and how "collisions" between students, faculty and stakeholders will happen. I really hope that they took that to heart in the design of the whole facility. One of my favorite things about Elon Univesity (where my son attended) is that their newer buildings were designed to encourage such "collisions." The faculty offices ringed the student lounges. It was impossible for faculty to get to and from their offices without encountering the students. I thought it was a really great design idea and from what I heard it really did encourage those interactions. In so many academic buildings that I've been in, faculty offices were far off the beaten path and the likelihood of unplanned, casual interaction between students and faculty were pretty minimal.

I was able to get my assistant off of furlough so I'll be fully staffed again and she'll be back to FT pay. She started in mid-February last year, I've basically worked in person with her for a month.
