Polish troops guarding the frontier as part of coronavirus measures took up positions by a chapel on the Czech side of the border. They apparently stayed there for several days.

The soldiers prevented Czech visitors from accessing the site.

Czech authorities eventually intervened by contacting Warsaw.

I have a friend who grew up in the Czech part of Czecholslovakia.  She got pretty anti-Slovak pretty quickly when I was asking about the split.  It was kinda weird.

I have a friend who grew up in the Czech part of Czecholslovakia.  She got pretty anti-Slovak pretty quickly when I was asking about the split.  It was kinda weird.

I attended high school with a lot of people who still had family in the former Yugoslavia.  When that split happened, similar thing happened.  Lots of Anti-Croat, Anti-Serb and so on.  Discussions would get heated quick

My buddy is Czech.  His view was that there wasn’t animosity per se to the people.  However, they had been shoved together for no reason but communism/soviet organization.  For that alone he hated the relationship.

Yeah, there wasn't some sort of the same ethnic issues as Yugoslavia, but my friend views Slovakia as kind of backwards.

My mother-in-law came to the US from the former Yugoslavia (the part now Croatia) during World War II. During the fighting in the ‘90s my wife’s grandmother would watch the news and get furious when she was talking about the Serbs...literally talking about them as though they were animals.
