That dude is starting to seem so fragile. Starting to remind me of Grant Hill. All the talent in the world, but can't stay healthy and on the floor. Hopefully his career doesn't turn into those "what could have been" scenarios.

I had a feeling something like this would happen.

At the Parkway or Princess?

In a fighter squadron ready room between missions during Desert Storm. Always helps to know what you're fighting for

Out for the rest of the season after opting for a full repair of the meniscus as opposed to removing the torn portion.  Unreal

Add to this that the repair may not take and they'll have to do another surgery.  Only parts of the meniscus get blood flow that sustain repair and growth.

I'm surprised he'd be out the whole season with this, but I only occasionally stay at Holiday Inn Expresses

I know this may be unpopular, but I believe this is the best thing for the Bulls franchise long term, assuming they tank the rest of the year. I know that completely goes against Thibs philosophy, but if they wind up in the lottery somehow, and Charlotte can somehow finish in the lottery at number 11, the Bulls would have two lottery picks. If they amnesty Boozer, they'd have Butler, Gibson, Noah, whatever is left of Rose, two lottery picks, some financial space, and that kid in Europe they have stashed away.

You hate a guy because he tore a knee ligament?

The short-term fix would be to remove the meniscus and get him back on the court in a month, but he'd more than likely have more issues with that knee within a few years. The long-term fix would be to repair the ligament which is a 5-6 month recovery and get him ready for next season.

Sure, the Bulls could take a calculated risk and push for the short-term fix, get as much as they could out of Rose and then let him walk away on his soon-to-be balky knee after 2017, but that's not likely.

No my dad doesnt like him because he thinks hes a bad teammate and I agree. Hes also gotten some really bad advice from his brother and BJ Armstrong which hasnt helped either.

D Wade's recent comments regarding getting meniscus removed when he was at MU is all I needed to hear to think the repair is the better option. D Rose hopefully still has a long and successful career ahead of him. Better to miss a few extra months now and hopefully get right than deal with the chronic situation Wade has been struggling with the last few years.

I won't argue with him getting bad advice, but why do you think he's a bad teammate?

Probably thinks he's a bad teammate because he sat out all last season despite being dominate in practice.

Dominant in practice and cleared to play by the doctors.  And collecting paychecks.  But refusing to play in games, including playoffs.

This. It was the being cleared by doctors all the way back in February that bothered me. Westbrook, AP and others all came roaring back. Hes mentally weak.

Agreed if the repair holds.  Additionally, he shouldn't be done for the year, he could have a conservative recovery and still be back for the playoffs(assuming the Bulls make it).  In this day and age where you have to look out for yourself, and I would do the same thing, I think Rose is sacrificing this season to "guarantee" future seasons and more importantly future contracts.

I'll reserve my judgment to see if he attempts to come back this year.  I think the Bulls PR played it safe and said he'll be out the whole year and if he does come back for the end of the year he'll be seen as the "hero".  I can't fault a guy for being precautions with an ACL injury, but the handling of that entire situation was the real travesty.  I don't know much about this type of injury, but it doesn't seem nearly as severe.

Now if the doctors were to clear him later this year and he decides not to play again.....

Hes mentally weak.

Do you really believe that mentally weak guys can compete at the highest levels in the NBA let alone win an MVP award?

The reports of Rose dominating in practice have been greatly exaggerated. Did you see him play this year? Did he look like a guy who was dominating NBA players 8-9 months ago?

Rose is a good, humble guy who, I hate to say it, just isn't particularly bright. He got caught in the crossfire between his camp (B.J. Armstrong and Reggie) and the Bulls front office and basically acted as a chess piece. It's no coincidence that the news leaked that Rose had been cleared to play shortly after Reggie took shots at the Bulls for not making any moves at the trade deadline. On top of that, the man who represents Rose has a contentious relationship with the Bulls organization and Rose's other "adviser" is primarily concerned with keeping his meal ticket. The Bulls knew that Rose was done for the year before the regular season ended. They didn't want to put it out there because 1) they wanted the possibly of his return to be in the back of opposing teams' minds and 2) they didn't want Rose's camp to respond by saying that Derrick was ready to play but the FO held him back.

Yes, I think he should have come back sooner and I think he wanted to come back sooner. Unfortunately, the situation was completely botched by all sides and Derrick was basically an observer to it all. Does that put some blame on him? Of course, but his trusted advisers were telling him to sit so he sat.

There is no way this will ever happen as long as Tibs is the coach.

Having said that, tanking this year would be the best solution for the long term future of the team.  This core is not good enough to win a title, even with Derrick Rose.  It's time to blow it up, trade Deng, Boozer and play for a pingpong ball.  Unfortunatley this won't happen, the bulls will likely make the playoffs as a low seed and be stuck in basketball Pergutory which is a terrible place to be.  Just ask the Atlanta Hawks, good enough to make the playoffs, no shot at a Title.

If only Rose had waited for the muscle memory to come back from his torn ACL he would not have favored the right knee so much this year and instead each leg would've had 50% of the stress on each rather than so much more on his left knee.  It was all the muscle memory.  ::)

Can't wait to see Rose for the 2015-2016 season!

And this is what pisses me off the most. He took his sweet time coming back and for what? Another injury.

wow...

you're right. he should have come back last season when medically cleared and then gotten the torn meniscus. or he should have decided to not tear his meniscus. or tear his ACL in the first place!

do my statements sound stupid? they should.

so if his left knee had healed he wouldn't be having meniscus problems with his right knee?
