You mean the guy who couldn't get off the bench towards the end of last year?

I certainly would not call him our MVP...but FWIW, the personnel was very different last year - lots more length in the backcourt with Duane and JJJ. In particular, JJJ stepped up toward the end of the season. When this year started, Haani was once again getting plenty of minutes (26.2 mpg) before he transferred.

So while he isn't our MVP...it's plausible that his defense might just have turned a couple of Losses into Wins.

FWIW, Markus easily led the team in KenPom MVP's this season.

Markus had a knack for being our best player in losses. Wichita St, Georgia, Villanova 1, Xavier 2, Butler 2 all come to mind.

If there was a way to do +/-   for individuals only (not while on court with the other four guys) I would love to see it.  I feel like Rowsey's incredible offense gave up so much defensively.  Howard similar, but at least Howard took a charge every once in a while.  Sam's defense was better than both, but still not great and the hip didn't help.

Tough to pick which of the three.

I guess there are two ways to look at that: he was our best player in losses, or he was our best player against the best opponents....
