Title: great shooting continues!
Post by: Final Four or Bust on January 26, 2008, 07:14:36 PM
who the he'll gave jerel the green light on the threes?  He would be the last player on the court I'd pick to shoot.  And somehow fitz continued his charmed status and gets the start. WTF!

why don they try Scott?  He can't possibly shoot worse

Couple nice inside dishes to ooze- but still no d

How did this team become so bad so fast?!?!

3 for 14 to start, including three wild shots to start the game and two made baskets are Barro layups. Here it goes again, but the pace of the game is real fast, do not know if Depaul has the bench to keep up.

3 for 14 is ridiculous

if we play in transition, we have a chance. - maybe a press would increase our chances?

What the heck is with the student in the tiger costume?

better d, some penetration, not jacking threes and an ice cold d- Paul seems to be the formula.  Mac would look good in mu uni- better than barro now

10 for 31 in first half.  McNeal misses last three (all drives) when we were up by 6 and goes 2 for 11.  Burns makes a circus shot and Aker twists ankle real bad. Least not down, thanks to a cold spell by Depaul. If this was UL, Geo, it would be ugly

You know -there is an old saying, that to get out of a slump, shooters need to keep shooting.  BUT - Jerel's not a shooter!  Pass, find the hot hand  - it's not you tonight.

first shot of the second half? A missed mcneal three- great play coach, took you halftime to set that?

Where is blackledge?

decision of the game- mcneal passing that open three and giving it to cubi who nails it- smart play

Getting killed on boards, but up by 12. Transition game is real good. BTW, Wesley Green is a large human being.  Over on fouls, Depaul has bonus for next 16 minutes.

sounds like a lot of tic tac calls are going on...I'm not watching so I can't be for sure. Anyone watching wanna comment? But double bonus with 11 left smells like bullsh*t to me.  >:(

Koswal taking over - picks mcneal and takes length of floor- missed bskt but still impressive for thier center

McNeal is now 5 for 18.  Has taken 10 more shots than any other MU player. Fouls are catching up now, need Hayward back bad, and Depaul is shooting less than 50% at line. We can run with anyone though.

well, the blueprint is written- play up tempo to win - and let lazar and cubi take your threes

Where is blackledge?  Hasnt been in all game?

88% FTs and Djames back seems to work too

A win is a win.  Terrible last two minutes, hate to see that.  Up 16 and then give up 8 points. Barro foul on three point attempt was ugly. Don't know final rebound totals, but we can't seem to grab the ball, always tipping and tipping.  Hopefully that will change next year with Trevor. Good effort by James and Matthews, but Hayward playing in foul trouble was tremendous.

Don't know final rebound totals

35-31 in DePaul's favor.. Mac was huge for them.. had a double double (10 rebs, 17 points)

Only out-rebounded by 4.  Wow, it sure didn't seem that small a margin.  Now to stop USF's center, Granderson.  Keep on running them.

team rebs are not in that figure.. not sure what those tallied up to be.

McNeal is great on defense and slashing to the basket - I agree on the 3's - I'd rather see Fitz. DJ. Acker, Cubbi, Scott, Hayward, Matthews etc take a 3 before McNeal - wonder what his overall stats are on 3s - would be interesting to see - have to find it

I don't know if you'd want Matthews to shoot before Jerel, his 3 point percentage is actually worse.  Both are in the mid to low 20s in terms of percentage so they shouldn't be shooting them anyway, but McNeal is actually more likely to make it than Matthews....though not by much.

Thanks BMA - I will go with your stats then - anyone but JErel and Matthews!

Let's GO MARQUETTE on Tuesday nite.....!
