Title: What's R Jax role/position on the staff?
Post by: Wade for President on February 01, 2012, 08:51:36 AM
I've always been a big Robert Jackson fan.  His performance against UK in '03 will live on forever.

I've often heard that he's helped out during boot camp, open gyms, etc.  We see him around the program arguably more than any former player.  I would naturally think he would be a great mentor for Devante.

Does he have a specific role on this team?  Is he paid in any capacity?  Could Buzz bring him on in a more formal role as a big man coach?

I know RJax is really close with DWade. and very well could've been the liaison between DWade and the Heatles getting to the game tonight.

Just curious if anyone has any knowledge on the big man's official status.  Do you think he'd be a good addition to the staff?

Coming from the City Conf., having great success at MU, and being a big supporter and presence at MU has got to help already.  I hope MU uses his talents when speaking to the likes of D Burton, K Looney, P Nolan, D Wilson etc.  I see that as a huge upside and impact for MU--maybe he could also coach the big men.

DJax is the executive director of DTA (Development Through Athletics) whose Spartans team has/had Nolan and some of Milwaukee's best on their roster.  Don't know if this is a full-time gig, but would love to see him help the bigs. He was certainly one of the best since I've been a fan.

I've got to imagine he's on the MU payroll somewhere.

His current role is as head of D Wade and Lebrons entourage.  I believe he is their driver like Turtle.

Sounds like R Jax would be a nice addition as big man coach and recruiter for MU.

You saw the pictures of them all last night.  RoFro is obviously Turtle.

Well, if he is, they are hiding it because he isn't on any staff directories.  The only way he really could be considered for an assistant position is if he is willing to start in a Jamie McNeilly-type role...not really ready for the Collins, Benford or Monarch roles.

Agree. He's always ushering around BC guests, I can't imagine he's doing it for free.

Isn't that a conflict of interest in the NCAA eyes if he on the payroll yet working with an AAU program.  I thought that loop hole was closed last year.

Well he's most likely not on our payroll....One person said they think he might be.

Would love to see Rob have a bigger, maybe more official, role with the team.  Like I said earlier, I would love to see him mentor Devante, Chris, etc.

Like someone had said, it would be great to see him be MU's face with the city leagues.  With Burton, Looney, Diamond Stone (who will be a program changer), etc.  however, at what point does his actions/efforts give way to more experienced asst coaches.

A very interesting (good) situation.  If all R Jax does is be the liaison between DWade (and LBJ) and Buzz, then his role is priceless to Marquette.

I had almost a dozen non-MU friends comment on the celebrity guest appearances at the BC.  Priceless publicity.

MU should have LeBron speak at a graduation function, give him an honorary doctorate in something. Then Lebron can recruit for his Alma mater ;D

Yesterday, Scoop poster RJax55 had a number of posts on the thread asking ifDavante was going to play, and how his knee was .

If RJax55 = Robert Jackson, and if he was on the payroll for MU, it would be highly unlikely that he would have been getting his scoop on players via a posting board.

Highly doubt RJax55 = Robert Jackson.  I'd give it about the same probability as MerrittsMustache actually being Scott.

He's sort of like Milton from Office Space.  He doesn't really know that he is the "former" fryboy yet.

I am literally the Sultan of South Wayne, Wisconsin.  No one may pass through on Highway 11 without paying some sort of tribute.

Haha, no, I'm not Robert Jackson... I'm actually Chicos.

My handle is just an homage to one of the greatest senior transfers of all-time.

County W road or something like that? We used to take that to the Dubuque dog park a couple times a month during college summers. Highlight was taking my friend's beater airborne on a natural ramp/hill on that road. The Clampetts lived back there before they struck oil.

Dubuque?  Everyone knows all the action is in East Dubuque.

But see that's the problem - Highway 11 doesn't go through East Dubuque.

Not to nitpick but 11 does not go to Dubuque either....ends at US 151 and 61.....take Hwy 35 for the "scenic" route with a stop in East Dubuque.

So that's why they call it State Highway 11!   ;)

But, if you get a chance to take Highway 11 towards Dubuque, stop at the 3 Mile House, right before Hwy 11 ends, for a typical Soutwestern Wisconsin dinner.

I have stopped there a couple of times on motorcycle trips....beautiful rides and great food.  Right up there with The Guides Inn in Boulder Junction while snowmobiling.

The titty bars in east dub are gone. Plus, the whole downtown flooded last year really badly, so I don't know if anything is left down there.
