Right. Kam wasn’t good enough to play 15 MPG. It’s not like he was behind a 3 amigos back court. Him “just being what he was in double the minutes” isn’t just some minor step.

No, he was good enough to play 18.5 mpg. So adding about 50% to his minutes. That's not close to double. It's a step up. About the average step up from a freshman rotation player to sophomore starter.

Dude was a stud, but some think we won't miss him.  He was one of two or three players who was Big East starting caliber talent on the team last year.  And we lost one of the two others as well.  We will need some MAJOR steps by multiple players, and a couple young guys greatly exceeding expectations, to make any noise this year.

Justin was a very good player for us last year.  He will be missed.  As will Darryl.  Yet both of those guys were more half court/slower tempo players.  Darryl had some head-scratching moments last year.  Justin disappeared at times.

This year's team can play really fast and I think will be disruptive defensively to where we can get a lot of turnovers, score in transition and ultimately create havoc.  Buzz said back in the day before playing Wisconsin: "F*ck with em" meaning exert your athletic superiority over the Badgers.  Shaka's play with "violence" mantra is similar.  The adage "speed kills" is true.

I think we will have a season similar to last year where we can make the NCAA, but maybe 1 year away still from making noise.  But the depth and athleticism starting to accumulate at guard and wings in the program is exciting and bodes well for the future.

So just do what he does in 50% more minutes? A sieve on defense who averages 11.5 points per game is an All Conference player? I’m not buying it. Hence a major step needed for him to reach that level.

Justin made a huge leap from year to year.  So did Morsell, for that matter.  Clearly, it can happen.

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

To get those minutes, he'll need to be better on defense. I said "not much improvement" so maybe ticking that 11.5 up to 13-14. Considering the number of shots lost, that isn't a major step up. Sorry if I'm raining on your negativity parade.

Just calling it like I see it. A team that made a somewhat miracle run mid season and lost 3 starters, including its clear best 2 players, has a guy who averaged 7 ppg as its leading returning scorer and brings in a D2 transfer and a group of 3 and 4 star recruits. The coaches and media seem to think similarly to what I think.

Optimistic and realistic is a fine line to walk on a fan page such as Scoop. I love, and share in, the optimism of our fans here. Fans can be level headed and optimistic at the same time. I don't think anyone here is crazy to expect a 20+ win season and a trip to the NCAA. That wouldn't be shocking.

But, the facts are that if every team's fan board's predictions came true, the average winning percentage in D1 would be about 85%.

(I'm no math major but I'm fairly certain that is impossible)

Man... this season needs to start already!  It's that time where I'm sick of reading the arguing about whether we are going to be good or bad and just want to get to the point where we argue about whether we are good or bad currently!
