“ Well, he had a chance to get a lot of meaningful minutes. For a rookie looking to stay in the NBA, that’s a pretty big deal. But he couldn’t get them because he apparently didn’t get vaccinated. Oops! Life is moving on without him because of his dumb choices.”

“ It was clearly a dumb choice. He had the opportunity to play meaningful minutes in a profession that he has dedicated his life to, but one in which he is a marginal talent. But he chose to believe misinformation instead.”

“This. He let down his teammates, his organization, his profession and, mostly, himself. “

Seems like a lot of assuming he was toast and how he wasted his opportunity by supposedly being unvaccinated (which I don’t actually think was the case based on how long he actually sat for)  ::)

The second quote was mine. I didn’t say his “career was over” at any point, and I didn’t say this when he retweeted Rodgers, but when he missed a game because he was unvaxxed.

So congrats. You said I said something I didn’t say and took it out of context anyway.

You sure showed me!

The Celtics were short on players. Sam came down with Covid. If he was unvaccinated, he absolutely wasted an opportunity.

You're not very good at trolling. And this shows you're also not very good at "proving" your troll attempt had any merit.

I suggest you leave the trolling to Rico. He's a pro!

Matching DNP-CD for Sam and Markus in the big Celtics-Nuggets game tonight.

I wonder if they said anything to each other either before or after the game.

Sam had by far his best NBA game as he got to play 13 minutes in the Celtics' beatdown of the Sixers: 9 points on 3-of-5 from 3, and 3 assists, all career-highs.

Joey didn't have as much fun: 6 points and 3 rebounds in 19 mostly meh minutes as Sparty was upset by Penn State.

No offense to Sam but a highlight film of three made shots and three assists up 40 deserve a highlight video, nowadays?

Reminds me of the video of all of Wilt's buckets in the 100-point game ... followed by the video of Wilt's 20,000 conquests.

Joey about as good as he can be: 11 points on 3-5 from 3, 3 reb, 2 as, 4 fouls in 22 minutes in Sparty's home loss to Illinois.

Still, he played sparingly down the stretch when Sparty rallied to make it a game, with his only contributions during the last 7 1/2 minutes being 2 fouls and a missed 3.

I only tuned in for the last 5 minutes or so. By then, Vanilla Soft Serve was anchored to the bench, so I had to by the box score and play-by-play. I saw that Joey hit a couple of 3s to help cut a 16-point deficit to 10, but when he left the game with 5 1/2 to go Sparty was down by 13 again.

Joey giveth and Joey taketh away, as always, but still 11 points qualifies as big-time for him -- it's his second-best output in a conference game and fourth-best overall.

Joey with a STRONG 2pt 2 rebound game. I can see why Izzo keeps in the starting lineup. The NBA teams must be drooling over him.

Another quintuple single for Vanilla Soft Serve!

His coach and teammates let him take all of 2 shots. Markus' fault, no doubt.

Gimme a Ticket for an Aeroplane.

Did "The Letter" derail his career or was he WAY overhyped?  Sam is a significantly better player obviously.

Several of us enjoy poking fun, but that's an interesting, legit question.

There is no doubt he was overhyped - he only lived up to the billing in a handful of games. There also is no doubt he has regressed even though he's being coached by a Hall of Famer and is surrounded by top talent.

He's pretty much a poster boy for "be careful what you ask for."
