That's quite a list. Is she a top flight recruit/transfer? I know Tennessee isn't the power it once was, but still a big name in women's hoops.

Charlotte has 8 players in the portal. They now have 7, as Keanna Rembert has decided to stay and play for new HC Tomekia Reed. The 6’2 Soph Forward averaged 8 & 5.

I didn’t think I needed to mention Charlotte as a possibility for Dazia, assuming it was understood. But it doesn’t hurt to remind people.

Dazia met with Tomekia Reed last week.

There may not be any players left by the time they announce a new coach.  Lee Volker has entered the transfer portal - https://x.com/hilsontrevor/status/1777415916835229804?s=12

Lee Volker officially withdrew her name from the transfer portal this morning.

Dazia’s a well sought after player.

Arizona also made a big effort but they didn’t make the list. Georgia would have been next after the schools listed.

North Carolina coincidentally, was the runner up choice for Kenzie Hare.

Gabe Lazo is a good aggressive recruiter at Tennessee. They want to compete for Final Fours and National Titles. Whether they can do that or not is another thing. They wanted to make a head coaching change this cycle to better compete with South Carolina and LSU. They were roughly finishing 3rd out of 14 SEC teams, making Sweet 16’s, but they want to try for more moving forward.

Their annual operation expenses are greater than $2.5 million. And there is a contract clause that the HC and staff will be the highest paid in the country if they win the national title.

Based on new information, I’m adding Ole Miss to the “shorter” list of schools for Dazia Lawrence.

Charlotte
Florida State
Georgia
Kentucky
Marquette
Mississippi
North Carolina
Tennessee
Virginia Tech

Marquette is still in good position. But it’s competitive.

She was previously a Charlotte commit. 2 years Gulf Coast State Juco. 6’1 Forward from Houston. Averaged roughly 9 & 8 for a National Quarterfinal Juco team. Her coach used to be an assistant at St. John’s.

Kentucky hired Ciara Gregory as an assistant. She was previously a 3 year assistant at Charlotte and a 2 year graduate manager there. She was also a highly decorated player at Charlotte, holding several 3 point records. She worked with their guards.

Former Charlotte assistant Cait Wetmore became the head coach at Monmouth this cycle as well. And last year Nicole Woods became the head coach at UNC Wilmington.

Does this put our current roster at 8?

Yes - it was 5 when Consuegra was first hired.  Lee Volker has since withdrawn from the transfer portal and these two players put them at 8.  No frosh for now though.

The Charlotte 8:

Olivia Porter transferred to Marquette (originally a Michigan State walk on)

Jacee Busick transferred to Belmont.

Alyesha Wade transferred to Queens NC.

Keanna Rembert withdrew her name.

Nia Young withdrew her name.

3 left:

Fatou Diakite, Dazia Lawrence, Jewel Watkins.
