Wade Leads U.S. Men's Olympic Team To Gold Medal

Former Marquette men's basketball player Dwyane Wade scored 27 points as the 2008 U.S. Men's Olympic Team (8-0) defeated Spain (6-2) Sunday by a score of 118-107, which earned the USA the Olympic gold medal Sunday afternoon at Wukesong Arena in Beijing, China.

Why does it seem like he's getting no respect?  Wade has been dominant at times during the olympics and certainly the most consistent scorer on the team.

Check this article out.  It's like he's an afterthought.  No mention at all.

I hate the commerical where they show the US team.  You can see everyone in the commerical except D-Wade.  It pisses me off.

LeBron and Mello haven't won anything though so that makes me feel better.

He is not in the ad because it is an ad for nike and he does not endorese their product; even if they do in fact own Converse.  I do agree he has been an after thought and was flat out the MVP of the olympic tourney

Oh.  I figured they'd still put him in since it's all the same company.

Are there any pictures of Dwyane with the gold?  NBA.com has pictures of almost everyone individually except Dwyane.  This is the best I could find:

I'm guessing that this McCallum guy did not watch any of the Olympic games in that they were on at inconvenient times. I would have to say that if they were to assess the top ten US plays during the games, (and I saw almost every one) that Wade had at least 5 of the top 10. When Dwyane came in the game was usually where the US extended the score. Many sports writers write  from their preconceived notions and not from simply watching the games.

Hopefully MU can turn this into a recruiting tool. It should certainly help when going after top 50 recruits: "See what could possibly happen to your career by choosing MU." I do not know if DWade is being used at all in recruiting, but he should be used in some way by the staff. He likely is pretty busy admiring his medal, counting his millions, making commercials, and playing in the NBA; but this certainly is an added plus when going after recruits.

In the NBA Carmelo is indeed a no-talent @$$ clown but in the past three years, he has been one of the better players on this team.   He was less effective in Beijing but you could argue he was the best player in 2006 and 2007.  He also was cheering balls out from the bench when he was out of the game and giving it his all when he was in.

Watching this gold medal game made me really proud to be an NBA fan, not just a Wade fan.  These guys busted their humps to win gold.  They all cared and represented the USA in a first class manner.  It was great to see.  Carmelo may end up being a guy who just is known more for his international accomplishments than his NBA accomplishments.

still doesn't give him the right to wear the American flag around his waist.
