Is this the final schollie?

If so, the last schollie went to TJ Taylor, a tiny, fast PG out of Paris JUCO.
Crap.   Link didn't completely transfer.

UH, 6ft 3, 205 lbs. is not a tiny, fast PG.  This guy is a SG.

Wish he was 6ft, 9 and 230.

6'3" combo (read: switchable) G

A snippet from an OU article from 2009:
"Staying with the men's basketball team, they added their first 2010 commitment today in 6'3" combo guard T.J. Taylor. Taylor is from Denison, Texas and chose OU over Arizona State and Marquette. For what it's worth, he averaged 26 points per game last season in high school. OU still has a scholarship to give for the 2009 class. No word on whether that will be used yet, but if it does it may go to a JUCO transfer."

That's a welcome add considering the depth at the G position.

People may say that it's a guard game, but cross our fingers Chris, Davante, and Erik can hold it down and stay healthy.

Another OU forum thread (mentions Marquette):
http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19537

Sounds like a hungry kid. Hasn't played D-1 ball.

Another SG in Ferguson for 2012, now with Mayo and possibly Taylor as SGs.  Would leave one schollie for 2012 and you would think Buzz has to go for a PF.

Jae's good at the four in the college game as well.  Forces the other team's four to play him on the perimeter, yet is physical and strong enough to rebound and guard at the four spot.  Add another 6'3" guard and this team gets even longer.  I'd like to see another 6'9"+ kid as well...they're just hard to come by.

looks like a pretty good get this late in the game. certainly does create a clog at the 2 though between Vander, Mayo and now TJ.  Add to Ferguson to that mix for 2012 as well and it seems to be pretty packed.

I'm trying to read through this on my phone at work. Can anybody clear up these questions for me?

1) Did he sign with Marquette or is that speculation?
2) Is he a 2011 or 2012 commit? Elligible next year or in 2 years?
3) On the OU board it said he went there and quit. Now he's at a JUCO? So would e have 3 years of elligibility at MU or 2?

Thanks.

You should add DJO to that list for next year.

Rosiak is reporting it among others that he verbally committed.  I guess he went JUCO route after a couple concussions kept him as a redshirt at OU. 3 years of eligibility I think but not positive.

He was an ESPNU 100 player coming out of HS, ranked #78 in the country. Not too shabby.

Really excited if TJ Taylor is the next commit...kid has a smooth lefty stroke,, and we need shooting.

September, 2009: Taylor is a strongly built combo-guard that knows how to play. He showed he can run the team from the point guard position or play off the ball and assume the scoring responsibilities from the shooting guard spot. He loves to attack the rim in transition and is able to absorb a bump and still finish or get to the free-throw line. He has a nice mid-range game showing a nice pull-up jump shot off the dribble and a floater over the post coming to block the shot. He is a good passer who has a feel for drawing the defense and delivering the ball to an open teammate. He uses his size and strength to rebound his position and defensively he has the potential to be a lockdown defender, but needs to make it priority. The lefty showed a nice stroke out to the three point line, but can be streaky at times.

April, 2009: T.J. is a strong, left-handed scoring point guard with a great feel for the game. He can shoot the 3 and is usually looking to score. At 6-3, 205, he's well put together and is a very physical player. T.J.'s not afraid of contact and can finish through it on his way to the rim. Ball handling and defense are two areas which need improvement. His ball handling is solid but could use some improvement. Also, he should commit himself to being an outstanding on-ball defender. The toughness and athleticism is there, he just needs to make it happen. Overall, T.J. is a legitimate high-major prospect and solid all-around point guard who will fit right in to what head coach Jeff Capel does at Oklahoma. He will provide scoring for the Sooners and will give them added depth at the point guard position with 2009 signee Tommy Mason-Griffin.

Travel Team: Team Texas...Averaged 20.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 4.7 apg and 2.3 steals as a senior...

Wow. This is pretty much the exact signing I wanted to see. He's a big scoring point with vision and passing. The only question will be his eligibility. He never played at Oklahoma, and while he transferred to Paris JC, I'm seeing other reports that he also never played there. Based on that, he may come in as a freshman but still need to sit out a year. I have no idea if he will be eligible to play in 2011 or 2012.

Still, great, great signing by Buzz. Rivals and Scout had him just outside the top 100 in 2010 when he was first eligible, while ESPN ranked him at #78.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/72287/tj-taylor

Ideal signing.

I stand corrected. He's gonna play next year at Paris and have 3 yrs at MU, starting in 2012.

So this is a 2012 commit and MU still has a scholarship available for 2011.

Look, he could be simply thinking that this is his last 2011 recruit...but that he will be playing next year at JUCO instead of MU.

yeah, i can't see him bringing in someone on the last 2011 schollie. otherwise without someone leaving he wouldnt be able to sign anyone out of the class that, up until today, we thought was so deep would incentivize Buzz to not sign anyone until the 2012 signing periods.

That's exactly what I thought Sultan, and I'd be more than fine with it if that's the case. In fact, that's pretty much the ideal situation in my mind right now unless a magical 7' superstud falls out of the sky. Like the commit a lot, I bet he'll have a DJO/Crowder type impact right off the bat. 2012-2013 is looking brighter by the day

If memory serves,  we were down to the wire with OU for his initial commitment.  I also believe that he was rated higher before the final rankings.  He would've been a huge "get" back then.  Obviously there isn't much buzz around him 2 years later,  but this is a big time recruit to land....especially given all of the talent already on board.  Hats off to BUZZ!!!
