Title: Interactive Tuesday Poll
Post by: TallTitan34 on February 10, 2009, 08:45:23 PM
Did Len Elmore really say no one outside of Philly and Milwaukee knows what a brat or cheesesteak is?

Toughest poll to answer...ever.

tough call. the ticker above was absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've seen... that said, I really think Marquette Admissions rejected Len Elmore's application to MU back in the day or something.... the guy is a HATER of all teams not traditionally thought of as "Big East" teams. He really should just cover Pitt or Nova exclusively.

Len Elmore is horrific to listen to, but sadly, he was the least objectionable thing on this list.

If MU Defense wasn't on that list I'd have to say 'yes to all'.  Just let me watch the damn game in peace without idiotic commentary and fancy 'what the country thinks' BS.

That's funny, I was thinking of running the same poll.

I hate Len Elmore - I will never get over his call of the Pitt game last yr.  His love of "playground" ball needs to end.

The interactive thing is just annoying. I am tired of all the talk before and after games - I don't need to see stupid comments during the game.

And the scroll - if there's not much news, please don't keep repeating the same few comments for hour on end.  And only post real news - Jeter saying he won't comment on ARod is not newsworthy!

What!? Did I miss something?  What's up with ARod??

The comments during the game on the top of the screen were completely pointless.

On a side note, I don't think they could have found a more disgusting looking brat or cheesesteak to show at the end of the game.  Neither looked any good!

Jeter refuses to comment on A-Rod until New York media arrives at Spring Training.  When asked if it was a distraction, Jeter said its a distraction when asked about it every day.

I memorized that from the 324 times it looped during the game.

It's that New York pride we just don't understand.

wow, i really dont know how to answer this poll.  the scroll was incredibly distracting, our defense was not good, the poll questions were stupid and len elmore makes me want to stab myself in the ears to go deaf...

I'm surprised the scrollbar is winning. You have to figure no matter what the scrollbar said it was probably better than anything Len Elmore said the whole game.

Did that cheesesteak even have cheese?!  Was the brat even cooked?!
Looked disgusting!

As previously mentioned, I'm a fan of "yet another basketball blog"

Anyways, Dan chips in with his comments.

It offended me that no mustard was on that brat...get serious ESPN!

How does Len Elmore maintain that gig?  It isn't like he is doing some regional Patriot League games, he is one of their "premier" crews.

The guy provides no actual analysis of the action on the court, has a tremendous east coast bias, and has a face for radio.

As annoying as the scroll bar was, I could choose not to read it.  I don't have the luxury of turning off my ears and was watching in a public place so couldn't do radio.

Len Elmore is a joke!

ESPN thinks they can't function properly unless they have some kind of gimmick with their broadcast.

I'm watching the game along with however many million other hoops fans, if I have something to say about the game, of course everyone should hear what I have to say about it.

I thought Elmore was the gimmick.

good point.
Apparently rebounding by committee is a common term in Elmore's bball vocabulary...never heard that one before. At least he wasn't talking about the New York playground toughness of the 'Nova players as he always does with Pitt

All of the above!

And if I wanted to see people's comments about the game I'd go online.  I can barely stand the announcers let alone random people's comments.  Plus, ESPN is way too into any type of graphic they can throw on the screen no matter how much of the game we miss because of it.

Speaking of ESPN and their love for distracting from the game...

Anybody watch the Duke - UNC game last night?
Can Vitale ever stop running his mouth, the man is a wall of sound for every second of every game. I love how he went off after Paulus tied up a big guy from UNC by saying, "That's what you gotta do if you want to be #1 in the nation baby."

Funny, I thought starting off 23-1 and 11-1 in the Beast was how you did it.

Between the TRL-esque comment stream (the only interesting comments were the hilariously incorrect ones, like the guy that said Marquette wouldn't score 50), the cheesy polls, the standard def broadcast, missing a couple of inbounds plays while showing shots of announcers/crowd/cheerleaders/coaches, and the overhead cam that wasn't quick enough to follow the plays, the production quality was easily as bad as any other game this year, even the stuff on WMLW.  Clean up your act, ESPN(2).

I agree with the statement that neither the brat nor the cheesesteak looked good.  There was no cheese on the cheesesteak.  Where was the mustard and onions on the brat?  I'm not the sharpest cheese in Wisconsin, but how can you have true Wisconsin brats if they're not made with beer and onions with the onions put back on to eat?
