McNeal makes cut for midseason Naismith list

Marquette Golden Eagles senior guard Jerel McNeal on Tuesday was named one of 30 midseason finalists for the Naismith Trophy, awarded annually to the men's college basketball player of the year.
McNeal is one of eight Big East players to make the midseason list, joining Connecticut's Jeff Adrien and Hasheem Thabeet, Louisville's Earl Clark and Terrence Williams, Notre Dame's Luke Harangody and Pittsburgh's DeJuan Blair and Sam Young.
The winner will be announced at the Final Four in Detroit.
