"Japanese trading and pharmaceuticals company Kowa Co Ltd (7807.T) on Monday said that anti-parasite drug ivermectin showed an "antiviral effect" against Omicron and other coronavirus variants in joint non-clinical research.
...
Many potential COVID-19 treatments that showed promise in test tubes, including the antimalarial hydroxychloroquine promoted by former U.S. President Donald Trump, ultimately failed to show benefit for COVID-19 patients once studied in clinical trials."
Let's keep sciencing, but there is a significant difference here.

lol
Like bleach and sunlight, in high enough doses it can kill Covid. But you shouldn't take it to treat or avoid covid. That's what vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and covid antiviral pills are for.

Do we know the ingredients or long term effects of monoclonal antibodies or covid-specific antivirals?
-
Yeah, Reuters already published a retraction and clarification.
-
When I hear people saying they are going to take Ivermectin to treat Covid.

They are certainly not proven to take care of parasites!

I find it amusing that the latest batcrap alternative treatment for COVID is called wormwood. The Screwtape Letters tie in is so natural.

Two things Wormwood is in: Besks & Absinthe. I'm envisioning a bunch of people rushing to Chicago dive bars for their shots of Malort since they can't afford Absinthe.

These people must also believe in shock therapy for mental illness. It's like they yearn for medieval medicine.
Look at that smile!

I'd rather have full, unvaxxed covid than drink Malort.

It’s actually the drink of choice for those who have COVID induced loss of taste

is this any less reputable than "experts" declaring COVID didn't spread during protests and riots (only BLM protests/riots, that is. COVID could distinguish between those and other mass gatherings/super spreader events like Sturgis and Lollapalooza).

I remember people saying that in...summer 2020. But no idea where that reappeared from.

LMFAO one of your examples you literally had to be vaccinated for... what does the vaccine do? Significantly increases the likelihood of being asymptomatic. who was then going to get tested if they were symptomatic?
only Ace Venture is better at talking out of his a$$ than this.

Actually, “shock therapy” (electroconvulsive therapy, technically) is still used and is an effective treatment for some mental illnesses. At least according to the Mayo Clinic.

Huh, today I learned. Not gonna look it up, I trust you Lenny. Plus I did watch the movie Jolt, and clearly it was being used for anger management in the movie.

My father, may he RIP, suffered from profound depression and received ECT in the late 90's. It was effective for awhile, if I recall correctly.

I recall an article from Smithsonian or National Geographic like 10 years ago that it is still useful in certain conditions, but it's not the same EST from our imagination. (Along those lines.)

Safe to say that most treatments, procedures, operations, etc., aren’t the same as they were 50 years ago.
