Complete b.s. 7 guards on the 1st and 2nd teams and they left off the greatest defensive point guard in the history of basketball.  If these other guards hadn't had to face Derrick Wilson twice in the regular season they would have averaged 5 or more points higher per game.  Apparently these other coaches didn't realize what wonderful people the Marquette guards are.

What was the point of this? Why take a celebratory thread about Gardner and Burton getting all Big East honors and turn it into another opportunity to bash one of our players?

Congrats to both Devante and Deonte. They deserved the honors. Devante has done wonders for himself over 4 years, considering where he was at when signed.

Congrats to them for picking up honors.  And thanks to the other coaches for noticing Burton's impact, despite six and a half minutes per game less playing time than anyone else on the list.

Well deserved by both.

Not to bash too much on Jamil, but what a disappointment. If you would have asked me at the beginning of the season the most likely MU players to be all conference, I would have said Davante and Jamil, and honestly would have expected it more out of Jamil. Its a shame he didn't pull himself up into that category. I really think he has the athleticism and talent somewhere in there.

How's this different that you guys taking every single thread and turning it into a Crean thread?

TAMU is spot on, and your response is "Well, other guys do it." Not a very good response.

OTOH, love the handle!

What was the general concencus on Davante when he signed? I wasn't around here back then or even following MU basketball but I can't imagine people here thought he would have had as big of an impact as he did.

He was a 2 star prospect....it came down to us and South Florida.  Would have probably been a 4 star prospect if not the concerns about his weight  -310 in High School - I believe.  Was concern as to if he'd be able to make himself into a 20 minute a night player at high major level due to conditioning.

All the basketball skills were there though from day 1 - great hands, feet, touch.  He was 1st Team All State in Virginia (a good hoops state generally), so he had a lot of talent coming in.  Biggest feather in his cap was putting in the work necessary with strength/conditioning coach to get himself into shape to play 30+ minutes per game.

An all time MU great in my opinion, and he will be sorely missed last year - he's about as unique of player as you'll ever see...totally below the rim, but unbelievably effective and efficient and skilled.

The hilarious thing about this is that I am a "Crean apologist" I think that's the label I get slapped with. That and the fact that I call out people for bringing TC in where he doesn't belong.

So Automatic, it is no different. But I call out people for doing that as well.

Welcome to the board. I love the handle

I thought Davente should have made 1st Team, if just for the fact that every opponent game planned against him, he was regularly double teamed against, and he still got his points. And my guess is he would start on every single Big East team.
