This is like Alaska being both the Western and Eastern most state in the USA.

Alaska lies entirely on one side of the International Date Line, so this isn't really a good analogy.

So what's the feeling for UConn? Seems like there were a lot of people here who thought it was pretty obvious they'd get smoked at UConn last time out and weren't surprised by that outcome. Curious what they're thinking today?

The International Dateline is not a straight line.  It does not determine Eastern vs Western Hemisphere, the 180th meridian does.

From Encyclopedia Brittanica:

"Because the 180th meridian passes through the state's Aleutian Islands, Alaska's westernmost portion is in the Eastern Hemisphere. Thus, technically, Alaska is in both hemispheres."

I think MU will play better but it won't be enough in a hostile atmosphere.

There also were a lot of people here who thought it was pretty obvious Marquette would get smoked by UConn at Fiserv back in January and were surprised by that outcome.

Tonight, I think we play one of our best games of the season and advance to the finals.

I like the optimism.

Me, on the other hand, expect UConn to prevail.  They’re one of the 5teams I think can win it all, along with Houston, Texas. Bama & Kansas.

For my gambling Scooper brethren, did the line open today with MU +4, or did it get pushed that way by pretty boys money?

I have a half dozen. Those 5 and Marquette. And not necessarily in that order!

I was liking UCLA, too, but Jaylen Clark's injury really hurts them.

The way we're struggling lately
The way UConn is playing lately
The way they beat us up last game
Our dismal record at MSG

All that is prob factored into UConn being the favorite.

Let's call BS on all that and light those guys up!

Love it 82!  I hope you are right.  I’m not as optimistic.  70% UConn lean.

I will say this.  If MU does win, it will go a long way towards promoting optimism that this is a possible final four team IMO.

I think we lose, but definitely perform better than we did in our last outing vs. UConn.

Kam Jones needs to shoot better and the guys need to rebound, rebound. Can't stress that enough. No lazy passes that lead to stupid turnovers like yesterday. It will be difficult but it's doable.  It will be fun to watch. I can't hardly wait.

Good takes - we’ll also need Jop to knock down some shots and I’ll think Chase will be a factor.

The stakes are high and the motivation to win couldn't be higher:
  • Shut up all of the fawning and fetishizing of UConn by the media
  • Lock up a 2 seed
  • Get off of the 1 and done BET curse
  • Belief boost in making not just the 2nd weekend but also the 3rd (at least for those not on the team)

Let's get it done!

I think UConn wins this. Hope we keep it close. Rebounding and poor 3pt% concern me.

I’ve long believed that the Friday nite semis in the BET is the best nite of basketball prior to the tournament and I’m pleased as punch that we are a part of it again.

It really is.  The Big East tournament is the cream of the crop.

ACC used to be up there before expansion.  When it was a 9-member league, it was great theater
