Butler is terrible.

And … honestly… Matta sits there looking fairly unwell… he looks disengaged…
does not seem to care.

Frankly, he looks sick.  Unshaven, bulbous nose.  Does not look good.
He seems sick.  It’s kinda sad

No Way he gets Butler back to prominence

Obviously want to see the boys win out in NYC, but hoping for at least a win tomorrow against SJU, which won't be easy for all the reasons mentioned.

Friday against Uconn will be tough - there is a very notable difference in the atmosphere during the semis, particularly when one of the local teams is playing. Pressure will be on Marquette and we're a very young team (will be a great test!)

World won't end tomorrow if we lose tomorrow, but will be akin to losing an early Thursday game in the big tournament. A lot of the fun really kicks in on Friday and those making the trip (self included) will miss out a bit.

A loss on Friday probably doesn't impact seeding and will be good high pressure experience heading into the big tourney the following week.

Now that I've overthought it, LET's GO!

There isn't a coach I'd rather have in this exact situation than Shaka. We win the league by two games, get BECOY and BEPOY, and we're underdogs in this tournament?

Shaka thrives as an underdog, I'm looking forward to more of that.

Crushed 'em at Carnesecca.

Beat 'em at home despite them making 3 circus shots and beating their season numbers in almost every category.

Looking forward to defeating the Johnnies soundly tomorrow at MSG.
valid points but sju is kinda hot right now. I expect a close game tomorrow.

Playing Butler makes everyone look "hot."

StJ looked "hot" for 24 seconds against us. During that time they could have punted the ball from the stands and made it. I expect Marquette to come out with a chip on their shoulder after that game being "close."

Shaka will have made adjustments to cover.

St. John’s is 4-3 in their last 7 games. 3 of those wins are over DePaul (double overtime), Georgetown & Butler.  If we go further out, they’re 4-6 in their last 10.  They appear hot because Marquette saw St. John’s A game on Saturday.

Listen, they have a lot of talented dudes and Herm said it best, they’re a better team without Curbelo.  Anything can happen on a given day but Marquette is favored by 9 on KenPom for a reason. If they lose, it’s because they stunk or the Johnnies play like they did last Saturday for 40 minuntes instead of 32.

Can’t wait.

Was just coming back into the room…what was the deal with the double technical?
And then there’s the legitimacy of calling a double tech.

I mean, they've lost 8 of their last 13 games, with their only wins coming over Butler, DePaul, Georgetown twice and (almost a month ago) Providence.

It's fine to respect the opponent. And they certainly did give us a game last week, but I don't think you and I have the same definition of "kinda hot."

Marquette has won 11 of 12, with our only loss at UConn. We've won our last 6, including over St. John's. We're kinda hot, too.

That was the first win for DePaul in the Big East tournament since 1992 according to Jerry Palm

Good job Depaul

Seton Hall inbound pass….stupid, cost them game.
Goaltending at end, nope.  Never seen that in a game to end, but right call, very close. Exciting

That’s one win after 12 game losing streak and 18 losses in last 21 games.

DePaul has six seniors in their 8 man rotation, all of whom I believe have exhausted their eligibility.  For their 2023 recruiting cycle, they have one recruit, a two star project. That is a huge, glaring problem.

Stubbelfield will have to rely on portal transfers, but who will want to go there and play in empty arena and get pounded by opponents.

That said, go get Xavier now.

Nice call, Herman.
