Villanova-ND
« on: March 02, 2009, 12:32:21 PM »
6 pm central time tonight. This game has enormous implications as far as us securing the double-bye. Notre Dame is desperate for a signature win...#16 Villanova would certainly be that. They are playing at the once-impossible-for-an-opposing-team-to-win-at Joyce Center. Anyone with me in thinking ND has a good shot at pulling this one off?

Nova is gonna be pretty quick compared to ND on the perimeter.  Hopefully McAlarney can get some space without having a defender the caliber of Acker on him!

Nova is in a bit of a funk right now.  The game is at ND and the Domers are on an uptick (even with the close loss @ UCONN ).  Ayers and Nash have been playing well and Harangody is a tough match for Nova.  I'll go with ND by 4......

If ND wins, does that clinch a double bye for MU?

Not quite. We would still have to beat Syracuse or Pitt........ or Nova would have to lose to Providence in their last game. Right now our magic number is 2.

Never thought I'd say this but...

Cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send the volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky,
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over (Nova),
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to Victory.

If ND wins tonight, how does MU not clinch the #4? MU is two games up with two to go and owns the tie-breaker?

Didn't Nova beat Pitt?  I think that gives them the tie-breaker at this point, unless we beat Pitt also.

Disagree wholeheartedly.  I wish Raf, McDonough and Bilas would call every game.  Those three and Gus Johnson are the best, IMO.

I love Bilas. I will go out on a limb and say he is the best in the business.

I just hate when Raftery gets all excited and says things really fast and loud and you can't understand a damn thing he is saying.

God, I love those ND guys - Harongody, McAlarney and the rest of the crew.  Just love 'em.   Hope they win tonight.  That last part is the absolute truth.  I got a Jesuit dispensation to root for them tonight.

ANybody catch the man size block Ayers had on Reynolds?  IF this was the And 1 tour they would still be pulling spectators off the court.

ND could not hold a high school girls team to under 100 pts.  They have no defensive intensity or leadership and just focus on getting the ball back, whether off a defensive rebound or inbounding it after a make, so that they can launch a 3 on offense.  They're defense is hoping the shot doesn't go in.

Tory Jackson dribbles himself into turnovers way too much and puts up some stupid contested circus layups in the lane.

Shrek is a cry baby oaf and believes every queer looking shot he puts up is "and 1" even if he is not touched.  What a trashy poo stabber..

Villanova is money and seems like they never miss.  Reynolds is a stud.

ND with no fouls in the 2nd half?  This defines their defensive intensity.

Wow-Notre Dame is truly terrible.  I wouldn't mind seeing them in the Big East tournament because their players show no heart.  No intimidation factor at all.

Tie game at half now trailing by 16 with 5 minutes to go.  The announcers are claiming that ND is playing poorly because of a short bench and a 6 man rotation... wahhh... wahhh... we've being doing it all season!!  Laughable...

Nova has to play Providence to end the season.  IMHO, Providence is a much better team than ND.  It'll be tough for the Friars to win one at Nova but I can see it happening.  That said, let's just win the next two and we don't have to worry about nothing!   ;D
