I don't think there is an easy fix here for the Heat. They've done a good job locking up their own but it feels like a number of their players are overpaid, and they are getting a little old.

They may need to look at doing something with Butler or Herro this off-season, but I don't know if their 80 year old GM wants to think about a rebuild.

If the Heat wants to win it all, they need to blow it up now before the current players get too old.  Nobody wants to play with Butler.  I’d move him now while he has value.  Who wants him though that’s a contender?  The Knicks?  I suppose but that team has great chemistry.  Feels like he’s a bad fit with that.

Herro isn’t even a third banana on a championship team.  Doubt he has a lot of value but if you can get someone to take the terrible contract, I’d move him.

Do you mean 'scarred' or 'scared'?

Norlander and Parish at beginning of their pod had interesting comments on number of scholarship players desired by some coaches as a result of portaling era.  Many looking to carry 11, some even 10 real (as opposed to giving schollies to walk-ons) scholarship players.  Not many want to carry 13.

Makes sense, since its hard to keep 12/13 happy and it's so easy for them to leave.

For Shaka, carrying 12, and sometimes red-shirting a freshman, can work.  This coming year, carrying 12 (as of now) and with Sean re-habbing, works within the culture.

Imbecillic and trolling idiot to describe Reeker, priceless!

Truth and falsehood are but two sides of the same weightless, invisible coin, both sides of which are cunningly embossed with the word “ass”, Dung Willie

What’s the ceiling for Marquette next year? — Zach G.

An All-America season for Kam Jones and a top-3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Shaka Smart has shown that a commitment to development and roster continuity works. Jones proved when Tyler Kolek was out late in the year that he could be the focal point of the offense. Chase Ross has star potential. The loss of Oso Ighodaro is tough to replace on both ends, but Ben Gold made improvements in that Ighodaro role in some of Marquette’s two-man games and his shooting is a real plus. David Joplin will be plenty motivated after a disastrous final game of his season. The roster is still solid. Still old. Good depth. Feels like the floor is high because we’ve seen these guys win together already.

Each gallon of gas has somewhere between about 28 to 50 cents of government subsidies or unique tax breaks including in it. Depends on who you want to believe as to exactly how much. Times that by the number of gallons of gas sold each year. Not peanuts. But those with money write the tax code.  Anyone who has ever had to review tax returns with oil interests knows this. It’s been done in thousands of different ways, breaks here and there.

MU82:  Musk as a business leader is so insane it is hard to believe that he can  also be a true  visionary in other respects and clouds all he has accomplished. I think of the halo bias in reverse with him.

But his recent business moves make me think he is scarred - I think it’s China producing very cheap electric cars that no one can compete with.  He has turned from a visionary to a short term thinker.   I do think on the AI and FSD they actually have made hugh progress over the last year.  So he does have that going for him.

The Tesla plan was to once again leap frog manufacturing techniques to produce a lower priced car, once again completely reimagine how to design and build a car and factory from the ground up to use less parts, new techniques etc.

Instead they are not doing so and will use mostly current techniques, current factory lines,  and current tech to build a cheaper car that won’t be as cheap as it would have been, nor as advanced, but will be easier to pull off and come to market quicker. Not taking the big swings he has in the past.  He lost a lot of top people due to this move.

Cutting back in areas like charging where they could continue to dominate - allowing others to come into sites already prepped and ready to go make no long term sense, except that he is truly scarred and thinking very short term.

Musk is not investible yet he public says Buffet should invest in Tesla. Water and oil, a guy like Musk is the opposite of what Buffer looks for, of course.  Apple will probably team with Rivian which will be a further blow to Tesla as they will get Apple’s tech they developed but can’t use and needed money.  Companies like apple have stayed away from Musk.

I’ve gotten used to Musk being an idiot,  but he has been a visionary willing to push things and leap frog. Now. It seems like he is scarred.

Need to draft both Oso and TKO to keep the Marquette magic alive.

But agree, that team feels like they are on the wrong side of the median age and there isn't really a "guy" outside of Jimmy. Bam is inconsistent and Herro has been too.

Marriage, home ownership, *charitable donation*, the list goes on, and on, and on.

But yes, more to the point of the thread: Elon's weird online brain poisoning putting himself in bed with the group of politicians most hostile to his car company's existence is very amusing.
