I typically try to stay out of the whole "opponent-coach-bashing" thing...we all view opposing coaches' actions from a very bias perspective and just assume that because of their graduation rates and the caliber of person they recruit that they [the coaches] are dispicable people when, in many cases they're not [ie. Huggy Bear...I'm one of those people that was genuinely touched by his reaction when Da'Sean Butler got hurt in the tourney]...but seriously, what kind of lesson are you teaching your student-athletes by awarding a scholarship to a young man who just pleaded guilty to physically beating a young woman...

What's the message to aspiring athletes?  That it's okay to physically assault a young woman as long as you're a quality big man who can have an immediate impact on our basketball program?  That superior size and talent is more important than an ethical lifestyle?

I know that, for some players, collegiate basketball is a means-to-an-end in their efforts to achieve their professional aspirations; but it's a real shame that coaches (and this goes beyond Pitino...he's just the most recent example) are willing to put the human element aside so quickly if they believe that a player will have a positive impact on his programs record...good kids miss out on opportunities to play at elite basketball institutions such as Louisville because of crap like this and it's really disappointing...

Okay...done ranting...

Why is ANYONE surprised by this?

I'm more amazed that the PTB at Louisville would sign off on it after the wonderful publicity that Pitino has generated as of late?

There's no way this has to do with basketball.  Pitino is just trying to recruit players that'll end up taking attention away from his Karen Sypher situation.

Dorothy Mantooth is a saint, and Rick Pitino is no Dorothy Mantooth.

Just spoke to a friend who lives in Louisville and both she and her husband are very well connected in the town....she says that a lot of people are VERY unhappy about this....Pitino has used up one of his passes on this one....

How many pases does Pitino get? The Sypher fiasco should have burned every pass up!

If louisville over signs for their 2011 class, what are the chances we could land one of their recruits? Or would they be restricted from signing with another Big east school?

None, if they over sign.  They would be restricted from signing with another Big East School.  Very little, if they get more commitments than scholarships.  If Pitino get over commitments, he'll almost be guaranteed to be running someone off.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
