Chicago High School Basketball Gyms
« on: March 18, 2015, 04:31:51 PM »
Stumbled across this website that has pictures and specs of most of the major Chicago area high school gyms.

http://www.hsbball.com/gympictures.html

See the specs and picture of the Hinsdale Central gym (where MU alum Brian Wardle played).  The picture of of Steve Taylor and Jabari Parker playing a sectional game for Simeon.

Here is a large version of it.

If you like Chicagoland high school basketball, you'll like these pictures.

I hated playing volleyball at Lincoln Park. Ball would always hit the ceiling on a dig from a halfway decent hit. Lighting at Libertyville always sucked. Notre Dame and St. Pats have a cool gym but I hated those school. Payton was another god awful volleyball gym. They changed the Whitney gym a lot since I graduated. Used to not be that bad. Really surprised to not see any CSL schools. As much as I hate New Trier they had a great environment as well as Waukeegan.

Playing in the Chicago Catholic League, Leo and old Mt. Carmel gym had the smallest gyms and courts, where everything was right on top of you.

Never played there. Played against both teams but we were at St. Pats. I have bad memories at Waukeegan but thats probably my favorite. Really cool article.

My kids' alma mater has a great fieldhouse.  It's probably one of the best things about their school district.  They have a legendary holiday tournament there.
Have some patience, FFS.

Nothing beats fight night at Mount Carmel's old gym (now named Alumni Gym). I am a proud 2006 grad of MC, go Caravan!

As a Whitney Young alum, I can testify to how sh**ty that gym is. It also didn't have that ridiculous paintjob on the court...it looks like their adaptation of the Boise State football field
