Title: Jimario Rivers - Juco SF
Post by: moomoo on September 10, 2015, 08:24:08 PM
Apparently, we offered:

24 JIMARIO RIVERS
6’8” freshman

“Jimario is one of the hardest workers in the country, and will run through a wall. Very aggressive and has a knack for rebounding"

Not possible.

Squirmy.

I'm with Chico. Just say NO to the Al McGuire template. What did that guy ever do for our beloved alma mater but propagate a "Just win, baby" atmosphere? Bring back Pilarz and LW! They'll lead us to the promised land.

I still think it will be a cold day when a Juco is signed.  More of a shooting forward which is not a need.  A back up for Henry to stay active in the recruiting market?  Stevens is here in a week plus and Wojo is focused on him, I would guess.

Agreed.  Traditionals only!  Remember, #alllivesmatter.

Even if he is willing to run through walls, I bet he'd be thrilled to find out that MU plays on a regulation basketball court with no walls, leaving one free to focus on more traditional basketball activities like jumping, shooting, etc.

We need more tough players.  You know, the kind who don't duck or fall on their keister when a bat comes flying by.

Well, the fall signing period is in November.

It's funny how many lies and distortions come out from certain posters.  The definition of traditional still eludes some people as well.  Wesley Matthews would be disappointed.

At any rate, glad to see we are open to a JUCO from time to time.  Makes perfect sense.  39% of our roster....beyond stupid.  One or two every four years, perfect sense if they fill a need.

The article says he is a freshmen. Assuming that is true he is not the traditional Juco who has to go to Juco for two years.

He's not a freshmen (that would be impressive - multiple people!!!). Also not a freshman. He's a sophomore.

I love this quote  ;D. No context, no circumstance, (seemingly) no hyperbole intended, just Jimario's a hard worker, and now he's going to run through a wall for no reason whatsoever. Jimario, look, a wall! Run through it! Okay, coach, here goes! **CRASH**

Funny. It's always used as a compliment in baseball, when really it ain't what you want. A guy that runs into walls is a guy that spends a lot f time on the DL.

Yes. I think he is casting a wider net with Coffey and Stevens apparently headed elsewhere.

Anyone concerned that we're losing our top targets to the likes of Minnesota and Penn St?

Coffey's dad played at Minnesota and that's where he lives.  Stevens is from Pennsylvania and a couple of his AAU teammates are going there.  So there are logical reasons why they are apparently making the choices they have.

As others have said, playing time speaks volumes.  It cuts both ways.  Last spring Wojo looked the Carter family in the eye and truthfully said PT was available immediately, if earned.  Engine signed on the next week and will likely start for MU for the next 4 years.

No.   Look at the roster.   Look at the depth at the 1-2-3 positions going forward.    How can any high school player think he is going to come in and immediately get 20 mpg?    IMO, the last schollie is going to go to a 4-5.   Someone who thinks Henry is gone in no more than two years and who is willing to play fewer minutes his first year if Henry stays, but knows he will get a lot of minutes if he goes.

We did land one of our top targets and beat out Virginia to do it.  Might land another top target over the likes of Gonzaga, Utah, San Diego St and Michigan.

Henry signed with MU in large part because of his brother Wally being on the team.  Do you think MSU fans are worried and think Izzo is losing his touch?

I think we're done for the fall. Last schollie(s) will get filled in the spring. Probably a transfer or late bloomer type like sacar. Would like to see an immediate contributor at PF and a project C if Henry goes. In addition to Bailey of course

No, not unless they need their last year in JUCO to get noticed by those they consider worthy of committing to, or to be certain that the players they think they will be replacing will actually be moving on.

Like all excellent idioms, it works well because there are no words with the exact same meaning, but up your nose with a rubber hose probably comes closest.

Yes.  A great recruiter who puts three classes in a row together sees deep runs.  Wojo has one on a crappy season.  A good sign.  I think recruits are waiting to see the on court results.  Looking to the Spring myself.

My concern is the lack of hits, except Carter, from the Big East cities.  I am looking to Johnson to help there.

Committed to Memphis today, whomp whomp

On the bright side, I have heard some very positive things about Darlynn Willis. Think he might end up being our last 2016 offer.
