Agreed with basically everything Viking, except I'm not sure I would take this home and home over a neutral site game against Alabama due to the caliber of the opponent

Alabama is a better opponent, but we'd get one year of them and no home games. With NC State, we get a road game when we're still loaded with experience and a nice home game next year.  I'd take this situation any day over the Wooden Tradition game in 2008.

I agree with those above that this isn't quite Arizona or Wake when we played them, but it is still very solid, and I'm quite pleased.  I prefer this home and home to one neutral site game against Alabama.

No, it isn't Arizona or Wake.
Nor is it Valpo or Oakland University.

Bottom line is that this was a last-minute schedule upgrade for which I can see no reason to complain. If this is the best home-and-home Buzz can produce for 2010-2011, then maybe some grumbling is in order. But given the timing and circumstances, this was a very nice last-minute schedule upgrade.

FWIW, Alabama is by no means a significant upgrade over NC State. Bama lost its top three scorers and top two rebounders to graduation/the draft this year from a team that finished 17-16 and didn't make the postseason. They're going to be heading into a major rebuilding next year.

ACC vs. BE.  Monty Towe (NCST Asst) preceded Buzz at UNO.  Next year at MU is the 35th anniversary of 1974 NCAA title game between the two schools (reunion show).  All the makings of a nice ESPN ratings pre-season match-up ($$$).
