There has been abundant MU love as the conference season prepares to open.   On the team to live up to it.

It's been so long since we were a favorite, and went so poorly when last we were, it makes me more nervous than anything.

MU controls its own destiny right now. Every single conference game is realistically winnable.  So if MU can win 12 conference games it will have a guaranteed spot in the tournament. 11 probably in. 10 dicey.

With our non-conference (barring disaster tonight) we are a lock at 10-8. Probably in at 9-9. 8-10 out.

This.

Let us not forget that we were the odds-on favorite to win the conference in Buzz's last season.

That went well.
Have some patience, FFS.

Very different circumstances IIRC.  Buzz's team had a ton of known holes before the season started, but some people still thought he could coach them up beyond their capabilities.  This year's team is being picked only after the non-conference results.

And that team had already sucked butts in the non con. Best win all year was either a neutral court win over 9-seeded George Washington or at NIT bound Georgetown. This team has already shown it can handle at least something.
