2017 NCAA Bracket at BMO Bradley
« on: November 17, 2014, 12:49:22 PM »
Third time this decade following 2010 and 2014.  I wonder how this will impact the new arena discussion?  Certainly seems as if the NCAA thinks we have a fine facility (and host school) already.

I bought tickets last year for the first (second) round. Had a lot of fun. I think the biggest pull is that its an NBA sized arena in close proximity to Chicago. Being close to Chicago is a big draw for the NCAA. Although if I remember right, they couldnt sell beer which was disappointing.

This is dumb.

We should never give WISCO a chance to have a home game for the tourney.

I highly doubt MU has a say in the decision. It's good for BC ownership and the city.

NCAA gains sellouts for Vadger games at BMO also.  Like Duke or NC in Greensboro.

Does anyone know what exactly the benefit is to MU for hosting this?  Do they get financially compensated?  Is it just a visibility thing?

Marquette is hosting it and does all the work.  MU obviously doesn't have any say in who gets placed here, but this event doesn't happen at the BC without MU.

Exactly.  It is good for Marquette to partner with the city to make it happen.  Who cares if UW plays there?
