Not on bench since 2nd half. Any news?
-
Sprained his ankle, won't return
-
Do we know how bad it is TAMU?
-
Matt Heldt, your table is waiting.
-
He got ruled out very early on, which scares me
-
When was he hurt? Did not see it
-
Wojo just said he came down on another player and rolled his ankle. No further update.
-

About 5:48 mark of the first half
Fell awkwardly on SH and Marquette player. Tried to tough it out. Moved laterally with a clear limp as the play continued.
Limped off on the dead ball which happened seconds later.
Good news is he tried walking it off and didn’t appear to be in a lot of pain.
But Ed is a tough dude so you never know.
-
His absence from the bench for the rest of the game is concerning
-
Wojo just said he came down on another player and rolled his ankle. No further update.
Never like the no further update line
-
Maybe they don't know and want a night of ice and treatment before they make a judgment. Matt is ready to go. Joey if we go small. And more minutes for Bailey.
-

My hope is if he's out it won't be for long. Our next four are against the four lowest rated teams in the league according to Pomeroy. Georgetown, Providence, DePaul, Xavier. If he does miss time, it's nice to have an experienced, proven Big East big man in Heldt that can play solid defense and eat minutes.
-
Through the grape vine I heard they think it’s broken. Purely speculation but fairly decent source.
-

Matt—-yes.
Joey—yes.
BB......not sure.
I’m surprised he got so little run with Jamal unable to catch or hold the ball.
What is the deal? Wojo is giving him every opportunity to snap out of it and it’s not happening.
Said it before, but we can’t have bad Jamal, bad Joe and bad BB. That’s a losing recipe.
-

I can't imagine he would have been walking like he was if it was broken. But I've been wrong before
-
Sorry...Foot NOT ankle.
-
In my un-professional opinion, it's probably too early to know anything for sure. The fact that he walked off on his own power seems positive, but I don't remember seeing him on the bench in the second half (he may have been there and I just missed him). We will likely find out in the next 48 hours.

Here we go ...
-
Dominic James walked off the court when he broke his foot against UCONN, so that doesn't mean a whole lot in evaluating an injury.
-
If Ed is out moving forward, what a luxury it is to have a senior that can step in and take some of those minutes.
We all know Matt's limitations, but he'll know the scout and be in the right spots.
-
Alright troops, I'll take the 6 pm-6am Jimmy John's shift. Someone relieve me in the morning. We've got a walking boot to spot.

Keep an eye on Qdoba while you're at it. Saturday night, we don't need one of the Hausers losing their sh!t because someone called them Sam/Joey Apartment.
-
Hope he’s alright.
-
Here we go ...
Did anyone see him wearing a boot yet?
-
Good thing he’s already been fitted for his very own Marquette walking boot. It’s part of the physical when you transfer.
-
Sorry...Foot NOT ankle.
Jones fx, hey?
-
Someone relieve me in the morning. .
nh?
I have an awful feeling about Ed’s foot. 4never knows a lot about ED first hand - maybe he has some definitive answers for us.

I didn't realize this was a joke until I read it a 2nd time.
-
Saw him in a walking boot outside Kampus Foods with Vanders cousin high school cheerleading coach. So that's something.
-
Save Ed.

Exactly—what a luxury in Matt is right. Also, having Joey who can handle his own on most bigs also huge.

I broke my ankle by landing on someone's foot in a game as a junior in high school and played the last couple minutes on it, though not terribly effectively. (We were tougher back then). I sprained an ankle in a summer pickup game and that hurt far worse. I was out for 7-8 weeks with the break, but was fine in a week with the sprain. You never know til the doctors check it out. Hope it is a sprain and not a bad one for Ed.

BS. Ners is the only one who’s ever played basketball here.
-
Hope the sprain isn't too serious and Ed gets back on the court soon. Glad we have Matt to back Theo up when needed.

Guess it's too early to say whether it's a sprain. My mistake. Hopefully Ed gets some good news.

To be fair, it depends on the severity of the sprain. In many cases, recovery from a break is faster and more complete than recovery from a severe sprain.

ya beat me to it. "sprained" my ankle one of the quite a few times in h.s. ligament pulled so quick and violent, it pulled a piece of bone off my ankle-it was then considered a break but i was able to recover quite quickly(7 days) with lots of ice whirlpools and a good tape job. the ligament was probably saved because the bone gave out
-
Do we know if it was the right or left foot? Didn’t he break a bone in his right foot when he was at Nebraska?
-
Does the NCAA/BE have rules about reporting injuries? Like it or not we live in a world of betting lines and withholding information that would move the line encourages "shady" characters to get close to the program to get this info before it is public. So, does no news mean he is fine and there is nothing to report?

HIPPA trumps Vegas.
Money is about to trump your HIPPA!
August 9, 2018
https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/8/9/17651764/injury-report-rules-ncaa
Big Ten athletic directors are asking the NCAA to make injury reports a requirement for everybody. The Big Ten’s rationale is that, now that the Supreme Court has allowed states to legalize sports betting, injury reports are important to maintaining the integrity of the game.
The theory goes that if injury information is trafficked only in small circles, the people with that knowledge could use it to gain a betting advantage (even if that flies in the face of school or conference rules). Conferences don’t like that, because that information could then be sold, and people with access to it might be likelier to bet on or against their teams. The commissioners for the SEC and Big 12 think these reports are coming in some form.

Maybe someday. Not yet, though.
-
any news???

HIPPA trumps Vegas.
Pretty sure that HIPAA doesn’t apply to universities—FERPA is the act that governs privacy of education records.
That said, FERPA I believe would extend similar protections to a student-athletes medical info.

University doctors, nurses, mental health practitioners, etc are all bound by HIPAA as well as FERPA.

Ok, this is getting a bit technical, but if their records pertain to a student and therefore would usually fall within FERPA’s definition of education records, then HIPAA no longer applies and FERPA governs (under an exception to HIPAA). There are probably some situations where the records may not, but I think talking about student-athletes, the concern is generally going to be about FERPA and not HIPAA.

HIPPA has nothing to do with it. If it did they would never announce the nature of injuries, ever. If HIPPA was the issue, Wojo would be a lawbreaker for telling us about Greg Eliott's hand when explaining why he was red-shirted.
Instead, it is about coaches being control freaks and not wanting to say anything until they are forced to.
With states now allowed to have online gambling, the more that coaches say nothing the more guys named Vinnie with greasy hair will be handing out benjamins around the practice facility asking for information. And it doesn't have to be the players, plenty of graduate assistants, secretaries and janitors that know what is going on.

Right foot at Nebraska
Who went to jail in Nebraska for violating HIPPA laws by making this public?
-
The student or their family can give permission to disclose. Just like the forms you sign every year at your doctor.

“In a speech delivered in 1961 to the Italian American War Veterans of America, (Vice President) Nelson Rockefeller quoted the number of 1.5 million as the total of Italian-Americans who served in World War II, thereby constituting about ten percent of the entire US armed forces.” Yet they represented only 3 percent of the entire American population.
You call these unsavory characters “greasy haired Vinnies“, an obvious implication to Italian American stereotypes?
You may want to reconsider your definitions going forward, Rick Majerus Towel.
You didn’t go to Marquette to be stupid.
-
I feel like if it were broken, we would know by now.

Calm it down PC principal. Us Italians are known to be part of organized crime, and we are also known to be quite the gamblers. Even what he said of greasy hair is true. Since I have to shower twice a day just to keep it out.
-

Could be. Or they could be attempting to determine if it needs surgery or other recovery possibilities.
-
We'll know one way or another by this time tomorrow.

I wish I had enough hair for it to look 'greasy'.

Given that MUscoop is never right ... the fact that we have passionate internet doctors and mind readers arguing over what it means that Morrow out tells me he is going to be fine.
A colossal waste of time.

Probably. Get the appropriate bets down in Vegas then.

Not far off. Contractually obligated to keep it short. A good friend, who had gone 33 years keeping his hair buzzed to the bone, retired and then did not shave or cut his hair for, well, we are at 2 years now. Every time I see him, like everybody else, I mock the crap out of him. His wife has this haunted 'save me' look on her face every time she is at a gathering with him. I keep threatening my wife that I will do the same when I retire. She then reminds me she works with attorneys.

Message boards amirite?? Who wastes time discussing opinions on a message board?!

Not looking to be PC, or get off track. And I never look for trouble, on or off a message board. It's never productive.
But if you truly are of Italian heritage, please do me a favor and research the damage that this false "organized crime" narrative has done to the Italian American people.
Start off by googling:

It will open your eyes, paesano.

Ed is questionable for tomorrow night per the team's twitter feed (https://twitter.com/MarquetteMBB/status/1084917940523282432). Hopefully that means it's nothing too serious.

Man if he’s truly questionable that’s great news.
Would love to have him tomorrow. But ultimately just don’t want it to be real lengthy. The questionable tag points us in a hopeful direction.

Questionable bc they’re not ready to rule out a return in 9 weeks??
MU added, “hey, anything’s possible!”
Buddy is questionable to get the start tmrw

On this, no; was kinda teal-ish, but I’m worried he’s not going to be fully back for awhile & it scares me. Hope he gets a double double tmrw night, but want to see him play before I breathe a sigh of relief
-
My source was wrong.
-
"Questionable" probably means he's walking around on it with minimal pain, but hasn't done any running/ cutting on it. Probably re-assess tonight after shoot around/ walk through.

Nope. Way past the cutoff for a redshirt.

Based on how he is moving around I would be surprised if he is not back for the next game. He looks fine. Even shooting a few shots.

We need pictures or video so we can make our own diagnosis.
