The NIT sucks and is a loser’s tournament.  Mike Deane got fired because he said MU should be satisfied with the NIT, hey?
I am pretty sure Michigan St. will not turn it down if they missed the NCAA tournament. UNC was in the NIT a few years ago. The goal is the NCAA tournament, but any fan that does not want to accept an NIT bid is a loser as a fan.

I think there is almost zero chance we get a bid to NIT. With only 16 teams they are not likely to take more than one team from a conference. Assume the Big East gets 5 bids, which I think is unlikely we will not be the next team on the list for the NIT.

Did MU not go NIT during Ellenson’s season by choice, or not invited?  They won 20. Ellenson was BE freshman of the year. Marquette is a brand name. MU won the preseason tourney in Brooklyn. Wojo certainly had notoriety. Always wondered what went down...or, no bid offered.

Marquette’s Final RPI that year was 111 and the NIT said at that time they went by RPI and Marquette did not make the cut.
