Anyone get in on the Starbucks Gift Card debacle?
« on: March 03, 2013, 08:22:03 PM »
Starbucks has an offer on their website that if you sign up for a digital gift card on your phone they'll load $5 on it.  What they forgot to do is to verify the email addresses.  You could put screwyou@starbuxsux.com and get a gift card. There are reports on deal sites like slickdeals of people writing scripts to automate the process and making as much as $10,000!  Getting over $1000 was common.  I say "was" because the deal appears to be dead.  It's still showing on the Starbucks site, so people are hoping it goes live again, but you'd have to think management at SB will be making some changes.

The forums on this are like some of the epic debates here.  Slickdeals is up to 107 pages and counting!
